Another alternative is to close port 22 and use a non-standard, high-numbered port instead. Not as secure but most automated attacks don't scan all 65536 ports looking for an open one. If I disable passwords I'm always afraid that the one time I really need to get into my LAN will be the one time I don't have my private keys with me.
Ahh, the old "security through obscurity" gambit....
... and we learned that when the Fed pumps tons of credit into the economy, lots of people get fooled into making bad investments that are unsustainable once the credit pumping is over.
You know what's sad? I've been around here long enough to remember when people were cursing XP and swearing that they'd never leave 2000. God help us all if I see the day where we are bemoaning the new release and swearing that we'll stay with Vista.
The big difference is that XP was actually a big improvement over ME and 98.
I use XP all the time and I can say that I am quite satisfied so far. Sometimes I just do not get it, therefore I wonder why Microsoft would want to replace it.

It's retarded ideas like that that are destroyed the wealth of the entire world.
I'm moving to Mars or Jupiter.
AFAIK, women prefer men who have all the latest upgrades
No, they prefer men with the longest features.
What is so bad about Vista on decent hardware?

They should change the support model for XP. Offer it for free and charge for support.
Hey... I think I've seen that model used somewhere before.... (http://www.ubuntu.com/)

This is not at all more secure.
WTF does that have to do with Firefox 3.1? Comparing apples and oranges again?

I discovered that if I log my wifi router to /dev/null, it works really fast and never seems to fill up, how excellent!
Just route it to /dev/gov and then they can take it from there.

In constrast, Vista is a big step backwards.
These memes are spreading like wildfire. Has anyone notified the CDC?

"Inspired" by this little $100 box, I decided to make a clone that's 30x bigger and only cost me $600.
Damn, I'm impressed. That thing must be HUGE.
Where do you put it? In spare room? In a shed out back? Please, let us know.
A volcano isn't an ecological disaster, except in Soviet Russia [wikipedia.org]. It's a geological disaster.
Tell that to all the wildlife near Mount St. Helens.
(and the plant life too).
Maybe you should tell your family this isn't the Victorian era anymore.
Oh you enlightened ones.... we bow before you....
Maybe we should all just run around with our peckers out....
Hopefully the government uses this magnificent tool wisely...
Just like they do everything else...

And because it's a law, there will be no way to circumvent this.
