The problem is that LTE-U uses a simple duty cycle access protocol. While this is compatible with the CSMA protocol used in WiFi (frame transmission will pause when LTE-U transmits, WiFi will go on when it is quiet), the rate controller in the WiFi node will likely think that the channel is terrible and reduce the rate to 1mbps. LAA has a better MAC protocol that avoids these issues. WiFi could probably be adapted to work with LTE-U as well, but with this technology it is not needed.
Why should my router have to change? It was there first. New technologies need to coexist with older ones that share the same space, or the new one will get ignored or rejected, and rightfully so.
Hey hon - I just have my new "friend" the FB Agent - can you please tell him your phone number so I can have him call you back with canned message about not pirating DVDs?
That console has a proper controller, and a proper screen attached to it via cables.
In other words you're comparing apples to oranges. Why holy shit, I could've bought 100 Big Macs instead of that console. What is more nutritious, your console with the proper controller, or 100 Big Macs...?
I see where you are going with this, but never answer any question from a police officer other than providing driver' license, registration, and proof of insurance. NEVER Lie. If an officer says, "Is your cell phone on?", your answer is: "I wish to remain silent".
While you're entirely correct, of course, the key is to power the phone off before the officer arrives at your window. Then if the ostensibly courteous first-world US police decide to become third-world fascists and just stomp all over your rights - you are secure in your belongings on the phone.
Never Never arrive at a security checkpoint or have law enforcement present (if you can avoid) with your phone powered on. If you get pulled over, immediately power it off. Always use a alphanumeric password (even if it is just "5555"). Don't use a cloud backup. If you have a device with decent encryption like on iOS8+ / iPhone5S, you should be safe at that point in your papers (on the phone).
Go ahead PROVE I had my phone with me, without a fucking warrant you cant check my car, so let's start the game.
Cellbrite, helping pigs be fucking gestapo thugs since 2008.
That's the rub - first off, you need to power down your phone before police inspect. 2nd off, if they ask, just say it wasn't with you. Then they can ask to unlock it and you say you forgot your password (protected under 5th amendment). If it's an iPhone5S or later (or Android equivalent in security terms), the police just hit a brick wall in their investigation.
This proposed law is unconstitutional (seems like most egregious legislation falls under this... of course)
That's just depressing. I live in Japan and have Gigabit fiber (500 up/500down on Speedtest) for $30/month with no data cap. For $80 I get cellphone service (from a different company): unlimited 4G LTE and unlimited voice minutes for ~$80/month. Great for tethering my tablet or laptop when out of the house (or phones of friends visiting from out of Japan). America is raped by the service providers.
Ya figure? Each SMS costing money (and sometimes staggering amounts in bulk) when it's essentially part of the packet structure is the most amusing/sad service I can remember. Might as well charge you additional for the air you breathe on a flight.
What do you expect from a country nearly completely owned by corporations/wealthy?
They can't make it any worse than it already is... why bid for a sinking ship?
Are you serious? Several calls to Verizon support have disabused me of that notion. Verizon is arrogant and is a money making machine. If acquired, Yahoo will change dramatically, possibly for the better, but probably for the worse.
Please stop labeling or inserting political bias into any discussion. A discussion should NOT BE pulled to involve politic.
I actually think why should people post personal things on the public Internet anyway? If they want anyone to see their personal thought, then accept consequences because it is no longer "personal" but rather becomes public. Also, why do they think that Facebook is that PERSONAL in the first place?
I think at some point, the facade that Facebook was "personal" became an unsupportable fantasy soon after FB went public and decided to have all sorts of garbage showing up in your stream.
I personally HATE that they keep spamming you as if one of your friends/family are "still waiting for your response". I love that Google has ghettoed the FB/Linkedin/etc into the "Social" bucket so it doesn't hit my "important" inbox.
The thing is, people are posting less and less even of pictures. My feed is all idiotic "shares". This is why I use FB less and less with every passing month.
I wish there was a way to block ALL shares, and ONLY see original content created by someone I know. Of course, that doesn't help Zuckerberg's marketing analytics or Facebook's "you are the product" business model.
I think this is a natural result of Zuckerberg's "users are dumbfucks" attitude [1], spelled out by a lack of ethics and consequently trust from the users. I know very few people in my network of recent parents that share their family photos on FB, for the simple fact that FB doesn't have a "privacy first" capability (or if that exists, that they trust FB to deliver).
Most of these folks are sharing on Apple Photostream, or Google Photos.
My surprise is that it took so long for this to happen.
And how does that devalue his point. Considering that David Cameron has been one of the Western leaders leading the chargst privacy with the British government's "Snooper's Charter", it's the height of irony and hypocrisy to then declare that he should be afforded privacy. If the average man on the street has no expectation of privacy, then most assuredly neither should any politician.
The 1%er / Corporatist mantra Do as we say, not as we do! Privacy for us, none for you! Privatized profits when we succeed, public bailouts when we fail! We strive for the good ol' past where only male landed gentry (or even better titled nobles) could vote! Money is speech! (duh, because we have most of it)
They'll suggest that clearly Trump cannot be their candidate because of the disruption of the convention
Slightly off topic, but there was a story on NPR this week about brokered conventions. They said that there had been 10 of these in the past, and in 7 of those occurrences the front runner was not chosen as the presidential candidate.
I wonder in how many of those occurences did that candidate win the Presidency? The idea of a brokered convention in the modern age seems like a completely avoidable own-goal.
I'd also like to add, that legislation like this may not end up solving the problem it's designed to solve; it may just create a new Black Market for cellphones, or increase the size of it if one already exists. Purchases from shady sellers, and thefts of cellphones might well increase.
Correct. Just imagine - instead of "selling" the phone, you list it and it gets "stolen" while you just happened to find a cash bundle lying around... For those who really want/need to stay anon, this will still happen, and be driven further underground.
Yes, I was going to say the same. That's one step closer to the wireheads distopya.
There's the sad wireheads dystopia and then the dopamine-fueled enforcers problem... since high dopamine levels increase likelihood of aggression: http://www.autismwebsite.com/c...
I mean, what happens when the Police/Military can just wire up the dopamine to when they want their troops to kill kill kill?
OSX is designed for use with a mouse, iOS is designed for use with a touch screen. These are extremely different things, and I don't personally see how you can bring them together.
I don't know if you meant to say vps but I will assume you meant vpn.
VPN = built-in solution. VPS = cloud private server, you build your own VPN - easy with OpenVPN. You do have to pay for traffic though...

Amazon isn't exactly a liberal-loving corporation, I mean look at their PAC name:
AMAZON CORPORATE LLC SEPARATE SEGREGATED FUND (AMAZON PAC)
I kid you not. It's like openly... ahem, separate, -ist!

Once it's posted on the internet, no matter what they tell you, you no longer have full control over it. Only a sucker believes otherwise.
This is the truth that has resulted in the whole "social media" downturn.

This won't impact a Mac, nor will it impact Linux (it's an .exe file). The TFA referred to Windows, so should the summary.
Just like as usual - most rampant exploits and malware are Windows-only.
I believe there is a medication for this in Colorado.
Don't forget Washington. Though I hear the treatment in CO is better quality.
i would advise implant it in workers. Give a shot for hard work and double for weekend/overtime. No more unhappy employees
