Vivisimo is obviously better than google. I searched for "slashdot effect" and "slashdotted" and both times it gave me the result of: "Currently Under Heavy Load."
Ever consider that, to your average consumer, Linux isn't free? I've never walked in to a Frys/CompUSA/Best Buy/Wherever and seen the shelf of "free" Redhat/Suse/Mandrake/Whatever distros. And in fact...they cost damned near as much as Windows if I go to the store.
Of course, certainly I could download them for free...but uh, I'd need a computer first right? I wonder what OS I'll PAY for to download my free one?
Actually, I keep a regular eye on ipodlounge.com. they seem to be pretty good about putting potential iPod discounts in the news section on their main page.
Also, as someone else suggested, hook up the educational discount. Even if that means registering for classes at the local community college, getting the discount, then dropping for a refund. I believe the discount is roughly 25% though...well worth it.
ROTK can't possibly leave you more disappointed than EP1, Attack of the Clones, Matrix Reloaded or Matrix Revolution. And be thankful that Peter Jackson puts out mind blowing extended editions. No extended edition could possibly save the previously mentioned flicks.
In an attempt to make their online music store more appealing to customers of their brick and mortar stores, Wal-Mart's cart&checkout system will one up Apples One-Click transaction by featuring a digital cashier without a full set of teeth!
Now there's innovation baby! Of course I'm sure someone already has the patent and lawsuits will be inevitable.
"Netscape" by AOL: Same crappy service, but with a price you can live with.
"Netscape" by AOL: Same crappy service for only $9.99; the price most people with a clue have been paying for their internet for the last EIGHT YEARS!!!
"Netscape" by AOL: Proof that with even a good price, our service still sucks, and you still wont leave!
And if you read all the way to the bottom of the page:
This product has been temporarily discontinued. We are currently working on a version with faster processor speed, possibly Pentium 3 based platform so that it would support Windows XP. Please check back with us in a couple of months for more information
Wow, this is so cool, I can't wait to NOT GET ONE!
At first, the thought of ordering from a kiosk at a fast food joint was rather exciting. But if that happens, that means those working in front will now be working in back. And if that's the case, since the people up front could barely speak english, I can't imagine they'll be able to read it in the back. Thus, technology will still allow them to get my damned order wrong.
Still, what this article doesn't really mention, is what other advancements outside of technolgy will be made in the next 20-50 years. Whole entire industries may be spawned. As Americans, we're pretty good at taking care of ourselves first...ooh, speaking of which, the pr0n industry's going to go crazy with this.
In an unexpected turn of events, East and West coast rappers have swapped Cristal and Dom Perignon for cases of Cyan Photo Ink Tanks BCI-6PC. Reasoning aside from the need to hemorage money on useless things, drinking printer ink while cruising the Escalade does not result in a DUI. Rumor has it famed Long Beach rapper Snoop Dogg has even begun smoking HP 78 Inkjet Cartridges.
In other news: Moet & Chandon and Roederer will begin shipment of their first ever CMYK Photo Inkjet vintage.
now the world, which generally was unaware of what was revealed in an x-ray, knows that very little shows up. Only a matter of time now before everyone starts to smuggle plastic glocks on planes.
If only teachers had allowed us to pass notes to eachother. Maybe then we would have developed great handwriting skills. But instead, if little Johnny wants to find out if Susan, sitting two rows over, "like likes" him or just "likes" him, he'll have to bust out his cell phone and type the question with T9, then text message her.
Oregon has several problems when it comes to gas. One which I'm sure nobody has bothered to consider when thinking up this new idea. By charging Oregonians for the amount driven, people from outside the state are immediately excluded from the tax. All the sudden people who commute in to Portland from Vancouver, stop paying taxes in Oregon. This is the same way in which we (in Oregon) get screwed by not having a sales tax (made up for with huge income tax); only Oregonians get taxed for resources used by everyone.
Also, if they wanted to offset the hit from an increased gas tax, they could consider firing all the pump jockies and letting us pump our own damn gas. Sure the occasional backwoods hick or yuppie dumbass will end up lightimg him/herself on fire, but if it saves us money, isn't it all for the better?
Neo, you must choose; either a burrito with red sauce or with green.
If you choose the red sauce, you will forget about the burrito and accept that the burrito you've always known is and always will be the same.
But if you choose the green sauce, you will be taken deep in to the world of burrito potential. A tangy sauce that may or may not go well with sour cream.
Yeah, seen parts of this trailor three times before before. 50% from The Matrix trailor and 30% from the X-Men trailor and another 20% from the X-2 trailor.
Seems too little too late to me!::yawn::
Damn, can I add another 10% somewhere for The Crow?
I seem to recall a story not to long ago of people who sign up for Cable Internet, and then use that incoming line to watch cable television for free. This is truly the right kind of idea. AT&T should offer cable internet to their current cable subscribers at an extremely minimal fee...as there is no advanced setup to route this ability to their customers. If I could get basic cable and broadband for $40-$50 bucks...I definately would. I'm absolutely not going to pay $50 bucks a piece for something that could easily be combined.
Same goes for Verizon(my phone and dsl provider). Give me digital phone service and combine the price with my current DSL. Don't make me pay $35 for phone and $50 for DSL. Combining the two for $50 would be a great deal...and I way for them to offset any losses on the DSL.
The reason that broadband internet costs as much as it does, is that dial-up for many costs between $15-$25 (depending on provider). Rarely is new technology issued at equal or lesser pricing than it's predecesor...especially when they're making plenty of cash off dial-up users.

Something mildly creepy about watching those videos. Their movements are suprisingly fluid, especially in the japanese fan dance clip.
Of course, I wont be impressed until they can get em to do THE ROBOT!
Actually the Queer Eye guys would be '10 Queens-A-Prancing'
Actually, the PRO version does allow you to encode AAC. So looks like that should be "except" MacOS support!
Of course, since iTunes runs like poo on Windows, new solution is, listen with Winamp 5NP, rip with iTunes.

That's right folks, you read it first on Slashdot (and we all know everything on Slashdot is true!):
... ... ...
Apple ~5% OS marketshare
Microsoft ~95% OS marketshare
and

Finally, a quote worth making a sig for:
"I always wanted to kill the few people that I passionately hated, long before I touched a computer game." - FileNotFound

...Laptops will soon outweight their desktop counterparts; coming full circle to 50lb full-towers with LCD's embedded in the side.
At this point "retro" mini-towers will become the standard portable computing solution.

Hmm, all that power to be controlled by the worlds most craptacular mouse.
I'll see your Apple Mouse - U.S. English
and raise you one MS Explorer Mouse - CA Spanglish

At least T9 forces proper spelling.
