Indeed. In fact The Game (you all just lost)...but anyway, the game is, put something as foul as you can possibly find into your ManyCam feed and screen shot the other person's reaction. I admit it is a very fun game to play.
And most of the pirated apps are Jailbreak apps, so I really don't know what Apple is worried about. Maybe it's a pre-emptive step in case jailbreaking AppStore apps becomes commonplace.
If you paid attention in the first 3 movies, you wouldn't HAVE to be curious about how Vader came to be.
Face it, some things are best left to the imagination, and Darth Vader's origins was one of those things.
The second 3 movies, had great potential, but as Mark Hamill said, Lucas lost his way. Hell the extended universe in book form is more exciting than the 2nd three movies. I'd be more interested if he decided to set the TV series either in the time of the Solo twins (or even after) or back during the time of the Old Republic...or even the Sith wars.
I used to have nightmares about Darth Vader when I was a kid back in 1978 when the original came out. Imagine my disappointment when I found out he was just a whiny emo kid that beat up his girlfriend.
...welcome to the world of IT, dude. Where we compare salaries by how much we get paid to take a shit, see how much we can NOT get done, and do just enough to keep from getting fired. You've never seen Office Space, have you?
1. The president of Mexico isn't exterminating his own people directly. 2. The economy benefits form the illegal drug trade. 3. Drugs are most prevailant in poor areas, thus keeping that section of the population under control.
Mexico doesn't pose a threat, in the eyes of the government or the UN.
2. According to Kosherate dietary law, in order to remain Kosher, one can not eat the flesh procured from a living animal. (even if it was beef, lamb, goat, or "other")
...this is why it's important to support and insist on net neutrality, or you'll see exactly what is happening with Apple removing Google Voice from the approved application list.
I would actually pay money to see that, (as opposed to "allegedly" downloading it).
The Black Hole was a GREAT story, and an unsung pioneer of the sci-fi genre.
The author obviously has never seen Tron

It has nothing to do with Virtual Realty, other than the fact that the movie was depicted as a microcosm of a computer system. There were no fancy power-gloves, there was no VR Helmet....dude just got zapped and digitized into the system by the Master Control Program.....I'm sure the whole movie is foreign to the author, as it brings us back to the days of mainframe computing and job batch controls.......there's going to come a day where computer history is going to be a requirement, just so some people don't sound stupid.
Posts like this from execs make me laugh. People will only pay for what they receive value from. Netlfix, Tivo, things like that provide a service that is hard to get somewhere else. (MythTV and others not withstanding)...
Pay services, unless they provide something USEFUL, that you can't get anywhere else, are never going to be money makers. The internet will continue to migrate towards advertising paying for the "free" content...with special "Premium" services that people will be wiling to pay for. The internet will eventually be like cable television was. There'll be things you get with your basic subscription, and things that you pay extra for.....and why pay for the Wall Street Journal, when you can go to any restroom, and some one has left you a free copy so that way you can do your business, just as the person who left it there did their's.
Though it does put into perspective why AT&T wants to charge for tethering. They're not ready for people even with standard tethering, just think if you get all those iPhones. I hear "Well my tethering works..." yeah for YOU..not many people are smart enough to know how to update their carrier files so they can.
I also discovered that one of the main reasons AT&T disabled MMS...you can also send.MOV files via MMS (ala Verizon style)..and apparently that's what their worried about.
Still...way to release a product that's not complete, Micro$oft...I mean AT&T...I mean Apple...AT&T has the WORST customer service (I've been on the phone with them everyday for the last week), and their support staff is lackluster at best, some of them knowledgeable (read as 1 or 2), so when tethering and MMS do launch it's going to be a "let's credit your account" extravaganza or "haha you can't get though, because the call center is as bogged down as your connection".
Next thing you know, car manufacturers will be selling cars missing important features. "OH seatbelts? We were going to put those in 2 years from now, but you can still use it in the meantime."
Look at it this way. If the service provider is being unfair to the customer, then go to the partner. Apple is embedded with ATT, so if ATT won't give people what they want, then Apple who is in essence represented by ATT, would naturally be the one to complain to. After all, if ATT makes Apple look bad, then Apple won't want to partner with them exclusively...perhaps breaking ties, or or opening up the iPhone to other carriers. Without ATT customers, then there are no iPhone customers, and if you make it clear that you won't be buying any more services from ATT if they don't change their policies, this will hurt iPhone's sales..and Apple doesn't want that.
reason being, the market is self-correcting. A company fails, the assets are sold off, a new company (or several) will rise and take its place. Perhaps the employees will pool their assets and buy bits of the old company form a new smaller company, and say the people on the other side of the factory decide they want to specialize in a small portion of what their old company did. So now you've got two new companies with smaller overheads. This is a good thing in the long run, and that's what business is, playing the long game.
I'm surprised that people don't see the irony in this.
Companies live off the backs of the consumers, yet when economic circumstances benefit the consumer and hurt the corporation, we're supposed to feel sorry for them?
If a company fails, let it burn. A new one will take its place.
It's a cyclical pattern, and is the natural order of things. Let it happen, and all will be well.
It's really annoying when they moderate something as insightful, when really it's informative. I really question Slashdot mods these days.

Apple was trying to put a stop to jailbreaking with or without the pirate community. It's just now the pirate community is giving them legitimacy.
And most of the pirated apps are Jailbreak apps, so I really don't know what Apple is worried about. Maybe it's a pre-emptive step in case jailbreaking AppStore apps becomes commonplace.

I think this will be one of the first potential Darwin Award winner that the Darwin Award people will have forewarning of.

"My hoooovercraft is full of eels....."
"Please fondle my buttocks"
"Pull down your panties, I can't wait till lunchtime"
No we wouldn't.

So looks like farms are here to stay. Sorry PETA.

Adeventure was the first my friend....although it was top-down...it was still before battlezone.
That shouldn't have been moderated insightful...that should've been moderated as funny.
What the hell?!? are the mods all a bunch of outsourced punjabis who worship at the rat temple?
one of the machines used to render Tron used to sit in a little computer resale store in Grandview Heights, Ohio.
I have no idea if the store is still there, but it was quite a conversation piece. (The guy had an aquarium sitting on it at one time)
I would actually pay money to see that, (as opposed to "allegedly" downloading it).

daysbehind...... ...this was out late last week, where've you been?
I remember when /. had the bleeding edge in nerd-news....now; more and more, a day late and a dollar short.

I hear Androids and Pre's aren't bad.
Until the company goes belly up, and there's no way to reinstall a game that you legally purchased, but can no longer install thanks to DRM
