Hosted system (co-loc maybe) and he gave some friends access to store files. Maybe the other encrypted files aren't his - no keys for him to divulg but he's a link to the others - can be forced to identify/testify against them
I've got several mailing lists I'm subscribed to with lots of messages yet I'm not stressing about my inbox as I've already configured my labels and filters correctly. Anyone that can't be bothered to even think about the problem for a couple of minutes is going to have more trouble with the new tabs because they're unorganized to begin with
When I'm asked by friends to help them solve an email overload, the first thing I do is create a number of sub-folders. Then begin sorting the mail/creating filters to move it to one of those folders while clearing it from the inbox. Keeps them available for searching and if it's an important discussion, they can setup another filter/label to flag em as needed. Of course, the other thing I do is install some type of spam filter that's better then the crap rules Outlook/Live mail uses that's bayesian based. Eventually it's far better then the MS crap if they take the time to mark messages as spam.
For those who have even higher email numbers then I do, the only other option I can implement is blocking langauges. Hell that's one of the first things I do as I don't read anything but English and since I'm American, not well at all as we speak Anglish here. Simply put, anything using foriegn langauge codes is deleted from the server although I will accept utf8 along with ascii. That's all.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with creationism as a hypothesis - just like evolution is a hypothesis as it has not been sufficiently proven to reach Theory Status. So teaching both as part of a science class is completely valid. As someone else stated, the SCOTUS decision in regards to Louisiana was the specific creation hypothesis being taught - It was only Christian - and that violates the seperation of state/religion clause of the constitution. If they included the Buddist, Jewish, Norse (viking/celtic), Muslim and Hindu creation then they'd have been allowed to continue as they wouldn't be pushing a single religion.
I'm by no means religious but even I recognize the possibility that everything was created by God (do not ask that question of a nueral network) it's never ending and when the system finally answers, it will be "Let there be Light"
Guildwars did that. Released new content and slight changes on a semi-regular basis until the GW2 release. Now it's in automatic maintenance mode and only critical issues (game stoppers will be fixed) but hey, at least they didn't shut the servers down so I have a chance to complete the damn thing.
Oh Shut up you damn air breathers. Us water breathers are still working on killing all of you off. Just you wait until our master plan with Global Warming comes through. You'll soon be swiming. Good eatings to you.
I'm one of those boundless masses of end-users who's never had to forward an X-Session. When I do need remote access, I tend to use one of the free apps like "Go To My PC". They work and all I need to do is provide them with a link to the connection and the app does the rest. No farting about with a Remote Help session, nor dealing with RDP. Just like using MS/AOL/Yahoo messenger. Easy Peasy and does the damn job. So I ask in all seriousness, what benefit does X-session forwarding give me in the face of alternatives.
Yes I'm a Linux user (Gentoo Ricer "-O2001 -pipe"
I'm Sorry Bob, but that needs admin privelages - Do You want to continue?
Seriously, I need to check Wayland out if it's offering that kind of performance. It may make the difference in Wine and my few windows games. Most are playable but FPS rates stink at time and I suspect it's the x server giving me trouble but no tweaks are available.
Also, enough lawyers have come to a consensus that using GPL3 would open a can of worms as far as company practices go, and hence the ban on GPL software in offices.
This is the key element in regards to the business decision. The Lawyers are advising against it due to potential legal issues. Hell I've asked a local lawyer about GPL and Open Source and was advised not to create any internal software using it due to the potential and from the SoHo/Small business owner perspective, it's simply not worth the potential legal issues. Stick with the BSD/Apache license and you're fine.
IAMNAL and this isn't legal advice. That's to see a lawyer and pay for his advice. Don't believe everything you see online.
Didn't even notice the difference and I'm a native speaker. Guess I'm too used to people getting it wrong that I no longer see it and automatically provide the proper inflecting when reading. Guess it's the reason I tend to use use its incorrectly as often as I do.
basically what AMD is doing is swapping their shitty old FPU design for the performance offered by the new ATI FPU design. It's not completely done yet but that's what I saw when the first announcments were made on the Fusion/Llano chips.
I give it another 2 generations before they have things worked out well enough to begin beating Intel at their own game and they still have the ATI division to push the envelope even further w/o regards to the TDP of the on die units. As to the single thread performance, turn off the damn turbo-boost on Intel's chips and then compare. I bet you the AMD chips are just as good if not better then Intel. The only reason Intel wins is the turbo boost raises the clock speed by quite a bit.
Instead of the results from a synthetic benchmark that no longer applies in the real world tell me the encoding time difference between the two chips using Movie Maker Live. At least it'll provide a useful number because every god damn OS I know of is multi-threaded by default unless it's God Damn DOS. That's the important aspect. Hell I don't even consider single thread performance as I tend to have multiple stuff running, 2+ threads for firefox, 1 for my music and multiples used by just the background tasks of the OS itself and this applies whether I'm running Windows, OSX or *nix.
That would be closer to what the actual summary gave me and it's a process that hasn't been used as yet. Instead of using heuristics and looking at behaviour patterns, he's looking at things the same way the god damn english professors are using the plagarism tool. The Coding Style. Everyone has a style they use when writing, speaking even walking that's almost impossible to change due to habit and physical reasons and it all leads to identification. Sure it's not perfect but for AV, it's probably going to be as effective if not more so then heuristical anallysis used today.
Why do they call it annallysis? Because of the asshole. Badda Boom Baddi Bing. Thank you Thank you, Hey I've got enough tomatos, throw some eggs.
I've got a damn nexus 7 and it has no removable battery or even external storage. What am I to do. It's gotten so bad with the Nexus that I'm seriously considering replacing it with an Acer Iconia W500 or later. Yes I know it's a damn Win Tablet but hell I'll take the tradeoffs like being able to write an email while not connected, add appointments to the damn calendar, while not connected, read ebooks and such from an sd/mmc card or usb stick. Install Software that I already own.
I've reached the point that I don't give a damn how nice the environment is if I can't do common things w/o being connected to the god damn net. It's a mobile device and if I can't use it where ever I'm at, it's a waste of money. The Acer Windows version Iconia is the best compromise I've seen in this space even though it runs Win7. I've got enough apps and such that the Iconia would be quite usefull or I can wipe it and install the Linux of my Choice on it and get some real work done.
Better Yet, the company needs to be raped and then the corporate veil pierced with the CEO/CFO/CIO and the Board being held accountable then the corporation's existence being terminated (Killed). Do this a few times and suddenly corps will get the message and behave properly instead of as god damn meglomaniacs who think they can do no wrong. Buzz it's time to execute a few of them while bankrupting the god damn assholes running them. The only problem is, it's far more expensive then a simple bullet between the eyes for a corporation.
nah: that's Windows - it leaks atmosphere all the time.
reminds me about a short story I read in which enterprise D was under attack by the borg when they're saved by the Windows Activation Ship. Seems the borg were using an pirated copy and the lawyers shut em down.
Just seeing some of the crap that Holme's has seen and shown is simply amazing and this is work by licensed contractors.
This is very easy. There are a few key points.
1. Use a GFCI outlet (ground fault current interrupter). This will keep you safe in the event of spillage or overdraw, and prevent fires.
2. Use oversized wire that will support everything you could possibly imagine running on it.
3. Insulate the wire properly. Use proper boxes and make sure there is no chance of any exposed connectors.
4. Use common sense. Don't put the outlet in a place or direction where it will be easy to break. Don't run your wire right next to moving parts where it could be cut or shorted out.
1) Buy a copy of the NEC (national electrical code) book and read it
2 & 3) Buy the Right wire to begin with as it's the safest and cheapest solution from a reputable place. If you need more protection, then use conduit - both ABS and Steel are available
3)Common Sense isn't so god damn common. That's why we have Building Codes
4)use a GFCI (breaker or outlet) varies by location and what's plugged into it
I think it's more important to have the book before you do any electrical work. They're cheap enough and help you spot crappy work by an electrician you're paying to do stuff.
Since I've been planning a new house recently - had to get into the NEC and discovered some very stuff. First off, some of the changes actually involve ADA compliance, like no outlet is to be closer then 4 feet from an Inside Corner. This is for wheelchair needs. Another involves height of outlets and switches - minimums and maximums now come into play based on ADA needs. Things you don't think about when planning a home but should and as I'm getting older, they're becoming a bit more important and once I've got the specifications worked out, I'll have an architect draw things up so I can build it. Yes the house is going to be a DIY built because I can. The only reason I'll hire a contractor is for specialized equipment such as diging a basement. It's going to be cheaper to have them do it because they have the tools. For a standard slab or pier fondation, DIY as it's easy enough. Just take your time and excersise care (Measure Twice and Cut Once) still applies.
for a year? Lets do it for a presidential term and use that money to straighten ourselves out. Maybe we'd finally get our infrastructure back up to Cold War standards.
only thing is, it's a damn iPhone w/sealed battery. Can't be pulled. Many other smart phones going to the same setup. Non-replaceable batteries and can't even be opened so tell me how a Police Dept is going to do more then turn the damn thing off. Only to discover that a Pin/PW is needed to unlock the damn thing.

hell with a bluetooth keyboard, I'm quite productive on my Nexus 7. The only problem is, I need a wifi connection to get anything done. Give me Linux on it instead with Libre Office and I'd be as productive on it as I am on my desktop.
Yep. The new Lightning connector is now able to read your puny mind. Of course, it also has the tendency to reprogam that puny little mind to always buy iCrapple products. "We are Apple. Resistance is Futile! You will eat the rainbow!"
I run Gentoo you clod and get plenty of work done. It's all in how you configure your system. What I dislike about debian is they make it so damn difficult to get exactly the options I want instead of the everything and the kitchen sink approach they have. As an example, I can run older software that's extremely stable simply because most times, a vulnerability is found in a feature/library my system isn't built against unlike debian. From what I've seen, if there are 30 different libs to do the same thing, they include all of them as deps instead of choosing what works the best and stick with it for both security and stability reasons, which is exactly why I restrict myself to a very limited number of deps.
The main thing is, I can get my work done w/o the system getting in my way nor do I have to update things but once a year at the least. Normally, I get at least 18 to 24 months between upgrades, when I do a completely clean installation anyhow - clears all of the cruft and accumulated dust bunnies (yes they need to be evicted on an annual basis) and that's why I do a clean install then.
