Yeah, I don't understand why people are excited about paying $60 for a few games that should be out of copyright in a sane world when you could spend $60 on an android based box that can play every NES and SNES and Sega Genesis and Apple II and Fairchild Channel F and Atari 2600 etc game ever made. Spend a little more and you can play GameCube and the first few playstations and early xbox.
I only skimmed TFA, but this update *does* include Bing integration. Because, for the last 30 years, that's exactly what people have consistently been asking for!
All that means is you can highlight some text and CTRL+E or go to the Edit menu and it will open up a Bing search in your browser with that text as the search term. Nothing fancy.
The main search is ok, but the video search is the best porn congregator there is. Searches everything, hover to preview the video, etc. Microsoft nailed it.
It's true. I don't understand the story. An emerging technology with no proven record and actually does cost a huge amount to do something no one knows they even want only gets awarded 4.7% of the available spectrum range, and we're supposed to be outraged? They were given what they needed! How in the holy hell is this impeding progress?
(As well as what everyone else said about miniaturization and batteries and whatnot)
yeah, I'm all over the conservative/liberal spectrum depending on the issue, but I am getting tired of the GOP's "no matter what happens, party first, everything our guys do is great and we all support it" and the weird adherence they have to lower taxes will lead to more jobs and then higher tax revenues and you don't really need privacy and by that we mean everything you do should be tracked and monetized.
we have knatts (do you call them that in your neck of the woods?)
I've never seen that spelling before, but google seems to have a number of references to it. I've only ever seen "gnats" as the spelling. Interesting that both have a silent first letter
Come on, give them some credit for standing up to blackmailers. Plus no-one who is going to see this in the theater is going to not do so now that they can see the movie 20 minutes at a time on their laptop.
I think they're probably just trying to deflect some complaints about how easy it is to get dirty. I've had a Surface Pro 3 for almost two years and the keyboard was filthy in a couple months. I'm not a dirty person and I wiped off anything that spilled but it's more just general dirt and dust and being in the world.
I'm a huge Microsoft fan (I have a Windows tattoo) but they fucked up when they chose whatever fabric this is.
OMG, thank you for letting me know about all the amazing health benefits of salt lamps, I had no idea! Hygroscopy? Reduction of EMR? Reduces coughing and asthma? Awesome!
And duh, juicing is super beneficial because liquid forms of fruits and vegetables are obviously better than solid, because science.
(And FYI I also ask Alexa for Dragon Force and They Might Be Giants and Fallout Boy and Explosions in the Sky and Alice in Chains and all kinds of other garbage, so...)
(Fucking salt lamps, really? I knew people were stupid, but come on)
Why is there all this hate against the Echo? I got one about 2 months ago an I quite like it. "Alexa play NPR" "Alexa play rain sounds" "Alexa play empty by metric"
What I've had a lot of fun with is I got some of those Hue wifi lightbulbs and I tell her to turn them on or off or 60% or whatever. The pull chain for the light in the living room was broken and I like to keep the fan on so I grabbed those and an Echo and it actually is more convenient than a switch. (Wasteful yes, but fun)
It's been happening for weeks. Usually I just wait 2 minutes and try again an it's back up. For at least a query or two. I assumed they've been under DDoS but I haven't seen any news on it.
I couple of years ago I worked at a place that has an automatic converter from COBOL to C#/VB.Net (followed by an insane amount of testing and fixes to the converter/custom fixes for their code) and we handled all kinds of businesses including banks (I got to spend three weeks in Belgium helping out on the ING project). So people are already doing this.
Who uses Alexa period? End thread here...
Shit tons of people? We don't all wear tinfoil hats.
Notepad is, and always has been, just a skeleton window frame around a text control. It's just an easy way to massively test an important ui element.
Remember that Malala Yousafzai girl from tribal Pakistan who shot to fame fighting for education.
Dude, she was literally shot.
The original linked article from the New York Times in 1964 is actually far more interesting.
I know slashdot is a little behind sometimes, but 1964? That's pushing it.
I predict 75% of Slashdotters are too young to get the joke.
Then explain it please?

Thank you, my first thought was "Didn't this happen months ago?" I guess this is another company and no one learned their lesson last time :P
Left right scroll is enough, most other buttons are accidentally triggered and can slow you down.
Are you insane? I regularly use a mouse with 13 buttons and only very rarely accidentally hit one.
For gaming it's absolutely better. And for regular work, being able to set up common tasks as simply a button click is super helpful.
Looks like it might be over

I'm going to go ahead and ignore my own sig as this does seem appropriate, but Penny Arcade called it, sort of:
Tormented, Science-Fiction Youth (https://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2005/04/27)
Man, you are totally Wight.
I'm a undead monster that rises at night to suck on the souls of the living?
I know. I shouldn't correct other people gramer or spelling but I couldn't pass that one up. :)
I believe he was making an Isle of Wight joke since you said "isle" instead of "aisle"

Oh, man. QBasic was my first language. Seven years old typing programs out of a magazine. I loved it. I'm gonna go see if I can run it on DOSBOX.

Learn something every day!

It's Pope Ratzo! Yeah!

Yeah I was lost already, but come on:
NPR's better than FOX or CNN,
Rain sounds are nice when you're napping on the couch,
And I like Emily Haines, Canadian indie-alt rules
