Idiots. They have no idea how people of bifocals use them, do they?
I have mine set up so that the line between the separately-focused halves is exactly lined up with the top of my monitor - and the focus of the lower half is arm's length, which is just right for screen work and still acceptable for reading.
All I have to do is rotate my eyeball up to see perfectly the guy at the facing desk or rotate it downwards to see the code on my screen perfectly, all without moving my head.
Why on earth would I want to tap my glasses everytime I look up or down?
I find exactly the opposite problem. I want to buy something and all I get is pages of reviews for the damn thing. Finding an actual shop is proving almost impossible, and it's not as if I'm looking for unusual items either.
Yeah, I have noticed all the extra cruft creeping into Google lately. It's definitely not as good as it was a few years back.
These autonomous sentries are a lot easier to spot and deactivate, and considerably less likely to be forgotten about. They're not exactly pleasant but far better than the alternative.
Easy to deactivate, yes. All you have to do is get near enough to them to be able to turn them off... oh, wait a minute...
Actually, in the UK, I believe that the body does not legally belong to anyone, the previous owner having departed. It is customarily left up to the heirs, if any, to dispose of it in a suitable fashion.
How long, do you think, it will be before human remains, complete or not, are declared hazardous waste and have to be disposed of by operatives in full hazmat suits?
You do realize that nothing significant comes within 11 AU of Pluto aside from Charon and possibly an occasional rare visit from Eris? That's more than a third of the distance to the Sun.
Er, apart from the fact that Pluto's orbit crosses that of Neptune?
It seems to me that once in a while those two ought to come fairly close, no?
I feel that we're 'lucky' to have say, USB as a standard in connectors. It saves an untold amount of time, development and hassle. I think very long and hard before I buy a device these days which doesn't support charging through USB.
Unless your device is made by Apple... then USB is only standard if you use an Apple-approved charger.
"we own it, the WHOLE THING is a top secret, and unless you pay us a huge fee, you can't even think about making modifications or adding anything to what we deem useful or appropriate."
Hmmm. Where have I heard that before? Ohhh... yes, of course. Apple.
I I were an absolute pedant 'd point out that windmills grind corn, so the pumps were powered by wind turbines.
If I were an absolute pedant I'd point out that turbines are supposed to have enclosed blades.
It's only ignorant journalists who equated 'power station generators' with 'turbines' when only the bit converting the steam to motion was, then equated 'turbines' with 'giant impellors shaped like airplane propellors stuck on stalks all over the countryside'.
If the rest of Europe is looking for a solution they're quite likely to go for the same one simply for compatibility as long as it's a reasonably decent system.
You're right, but on the other hand Ubuntu will run on almost any hardware. Can you say that about any "app"?

I would say that the ping time is probably at par with the ping time of the protocol described in RFC 1149, a.k.a. IPoAC.
Perhaps that should be "IP over Alien carriers"...

In my day, the internet was uphill both ways!
Now, get off my lawn!
In the UK at least, SMS spam is illegal. Possibly so in the rest of Europe, where this phone is being produced and likely sold.

Eh... tongue firmly planted where, exactly?
That would be Charles Heston, then?
Put enough comments in your code so that five years from now you (and others) can remember what you indented the code to do.
I know, Python right?
Yes. Monty.
Bear, forest... come on, you can work it out, surely?
I thought at first it might be a two-way video wristwatch - but the guy wearing it doesn't look like Dick Tracy at all.
I'm not sure about Tracy, but you got the other bit right.
Orion drive. It's the only way to be sure your six-story-tall ship gets there quickly.
Nuke it in orbit. It's the only way to be sure!

Managing the transformations centrally would likely be a nightmare.
I thought that managing things centrally was what the Chinese did these days.

...unless you're French.
When you go to an ATM do you need a central authority to verify your identity with a certificate?
No, but then neither does the thief who shoulder-surfed your pin and then stole your card.
You're new here, aren't you?
Why bother? Why not just strip out everything but the actual video, and remux it into a different container like mp4/mkv/...?
That's what everyone has available now, isn't it?
So, you're stopped at a light and a kid slaps the button and runs off... good idea, not.
Yup. There is a foreign submarine bearing a nuclear bomb armed missile or three, off your coast right now...
My country doesn't have a coast, you insensitive clod!
