Um, don't laptops have a lid for reason? Is this screen unbreakable?
I would rather have a way for my Windows Mobile device to wirelessly access the same information through Bluetooth. Why would I pull my laptop out to get flight information when I already have a mobile device to do the same? I personnaly do not see this taking off.
Have you ever tried removing an IDE drive from an operating system and reattaching a different drive? Sure, it works fine with USB, but not ATA IDE. I did not read anywhere that mentioned being able to hot-swap the drives.
What idiot would actually put 120TB into an array that a single disk failure would require shutting down the entire 120TB storage array to replace the (non-hot-swap) disk?
I would rather, for uptime sake, spend the extra heating/cooling dollars implementing a solution that utilizes hot-swap SATA SAS drives.
Also, is it really red? Looks like a rack of firewalls to me...
Are you actually going to buy a server running multiple 8 core processors? No, because of "economy of scale" the price will be too high. Instead you can deploy a development server and a production server at a lower cost.
So, use Microsoft Project Server for your projects and resource allocation. It will connect to Outlook and fill your schedule with projects tasks so you are unavailable for those meetings!
So what if the number of students has dropped. It should drop. Why? Because all those students that would make crappy computer scientists looking for a quick buck are getting other degrees. The real geeks that will be great coders are still there. So, the stat really shows us that 2/3 of the CS students in the last few years are now getting general business and art degrees like they should be.
Although many believe the article to be false, I can see that Groupware (Exchange, Kroupware, GroupWise, etc.) makes it way too easy for people to over-invite meetings. I have seen this alone to contribute to hundreds of lost man-hours in a year. Validating that I do seem to accomplish less being dragged into unorganized meetings.
I agree, especially where Wi-Fi is the most useful: handhelds. My handheld does not have a large enough screen to view a normal web page let alone losing another 1/4 of the screen to targeted ads. Of course, I am sure their ads will not be like the dial-up version. They will force fullscreen flash that you have to wait for or click-thru. If they choose click-thru, that would just suck for devices checking email. It would effectively force manual syncs.
Even WinPE can run 6 processes, I am shocked that the starter edition would be limited to 3. The question, will be, since IE is an integrated component of the OS that cannot be separated, does it count as one of the running processes?
...that high cost is if the drug companies do their first testing in the U.S.
All they need to do is set up shop in Haiti, there will be plenty of willing participants for their trials.
Doctor: "I am sorry to tell you this, but you are infected with the HIV virus"
Patient: "Oh crap, that bitch Juanita is going to pay for that!"
Doctor: "Well, that aside, do you want to partcipate in a new drug trial that may kill the HIV virus?"
Patient: "Will it kill me faster than the virus?"
Doctor: "Probably not"
Patient: "Hell yeah!"
Complete all the CS courses to become a developer. or
Quit your four-year program, enroll in a two-year program where they teach you one language and become a code monkey.
These courses are fundamental for you to think like a developer.
And who will help you when your co-processor is 0wned? The GeekER (TM).
Yes, for the low payment of $2999 the Geek Emergency Room (GeekER) will remove trojans (not used), viruses, and if needed, will even reboot your brain!
And if you do not think so, get this movie this movie!
For those enterprise customers this 'little' change will cause a huge headache at migration time. This is just a taste of why the upgrade from a 2003/XP network to Longhorn will be as difficult as NT/NT to 2000/2000.
I really hope they take the GO button too.
1. Charge $1 per hour of CPU time on your cluster.
2. Lower the speed of your processors.
3. Add spyware to the grid.
4. Runtime of tasks increase. So your $1 does less.
4. PROFIT!!!!

EZ-Latch != hot-swap

I got a pop-up for some spyware removal software. Would you like the link?
Or they are holding the company and respectfully the judgement against Microsoft as a bargaining chip.

Slashdotting is a denial of service. Putting 80 slashdotters in Geek Squad gear in a Best Buy would improve service.

The chip is designed for VM type apps. I would love to see vmware ESX ported to it, it would certainly use it.

If not, I can see my three processes already:
1. Anti-virus
2. Anti-spyware
3. IE

I do not have HBO and I would buy Sopranos episodes for $1 - $2 each. Any more I could subscribe to the service.
In other news, bittorent traffic has spiked following the release of HD movies...

They made their saving throw. 1/20 will make 2nd level!

1. Charge $1 per hour of CPU time on your cluster.
2. Lower the speed of your processors.
3. Add spyware to the grid.
4. Runtime of tasks increase. So your $1 does less.
4. PROFIT!!!!
