    2.0 GHz is the clock speed of each core. the 800 MHz is the front side bus.

    on multi-core processors, each core runs at the same clock speed. unless one of the cores burns out, in which case its clock speed becomes 0.

    'Dark energy', which researchers have spent years trying to fathom, isn't necessary to explain our universe after all I don't know about those guys, but I usually do my best work after a cup of dark energy.

    If they're not going to ship Appleworks free anymore, they should at least help fix the one real alternative to Word. Why should we pay 1100 for a computer and then over 100 more for software to type a freaking letter or directions on how to use the computer??
    1. they don't make Appleworks anymore, hence why they don't ship it with new machines.
    2. Apple has the Pages software, part of iWork. Why would they want to help their competition?

    Friend's wife has a new Dell laptop w/ 1Gig RAM, dual processor etc. etc. Windoze has bogged to a halt with malware etc. so I went to install a better operating system. I thought to myself: Newbie needs = simple, intuitive OS = OSX. Strangely, OSX would not install. I fucking wonder why!

    Many are moving on to Apple or Linux instead. you assume that businesses are moving. if a business is running a microsoft infrastructure, based on Server 2K3 and XP, odds are they're not going to move from it voluntarily, simply because it works, and is stable. A business is only going to move to a different OS platform when it offers the business something better than what they currently have, and, contrary to /. groupthink, Windows XP is the best business OS on the market.

    When Linux grows an LDAP system that can actually compete with Active Directory, we may see a large-scale rise of Linux on the server.
