I have had countless Sun consultants for the best part of ten years telling me that Linux is unstable versus the 'rock solid' Solaris and that no one could ever run anything serious on a x86 system versus SPARC.
Solaris on SPARC has device drivers in user-space. This lets you add SCSI devices to the server without rebooting.
Need to add a new SCSI tape library to a Linux server? Sorry, need to reboot the server!
Need to add a SCSI tape library on Solaris? No problem! 1. Plug it in 2. # add_drv st 3. # add_drv ds 4. # devfsadm -Cv 5. 99.999% uptime! 6. Profit!
Really? I'm posting this comment from a workstation running a commercial UNIX. I'm using a Mac.
Try running a mac os x server and a solaris server, side by side, running the same application, and tell me that mac os x is truly unix. Any OS requiring >90% of configuration changes to be made in a GUI does not count as UNIX, in my book. I'll grant you that OS X is UNIX-certified, but OS X is _not_ SVR4 UNIX.
PS- That burning you smell is my karma going up in flames.
Can you really call an object a third of a mile wide a "moon" rather than "just a rocky piece of junk that orbits Saturn, like a whole bunch of other stuff."
The Astronomical community is feeling guilty about Pluto.
Karma might dictate that, with this release, Ubuntu adoption reaches a critical mass, and the first (legitimate) wave of Ubuntu-oriented virii are released into the wild.

You can't put DRM on a rock.
OMG! Java is tightly integrated to the OS!
Yanno, spilling coffee on your computer is generally _not_ a good thing.
Why not use LSTP? That way you only have to worry about whatever image(s) you keep on the server.
Better yet, use LSD! Then all you have to worry about is why those images are talking to you.
Imagine the possibilities for this sort of technology... in porn.
Well enough to play Crysis, even.

'Ey took our jerbs!
I read the headline too quickly, and thought it said "Vista Says No New Processor Breach After All."

I'm just curious what it will be...
I predict a revival of the Sneakernet.
Have you been to MySpace lately?
The Reds are going to the Red Planet!
If it's Debian-based: Ehbuntu
If it's RPM-based: Toque
Guess I have to wait for the 64-bit one :-(
Good luck with that.
If it's Red Hat based, I say Sombrero!
Gives new meaning to the term patch rollup.
I guess this proves that manbearpig is a figment of the imagination.

FUCKING YES!
Penis Creatures running on a Wii. It's perfect.
The writers don't know what it is.
Seagate never played Whack-a-mole growing up.
That's only fair. He's the president for all the robot-american's also. They should be able to access the site as well.
Richard Nixon is the true president for robot-americans!
Nice features, but when will it be released?
