Because a lot of the people who pirate, wouldn't have bought the stuff in the first place. How many people would own photoshop if they couldn't just download it? That isn't Adobe's market. Back in the day people would just tape songs off the radio. What about the old two VCR trick? Rent a video from Blockbuster, use a blank tape and copy it while you watch it.

There's different Blu Ray profiles. 1.0/1.1 is what was originally released. Profile 2.0 makes some things that were optional in 1.x mandatory. More ram, better processor, etc so the players can accommodate the newer disks that have more features. The older one's don't have the processing power to keep up. The PS3 does, and can be updated with just a firmware update. And to the GP: I present to you the floppy disk, the compact disk, and the fact betamax was still used commercially until recently. Sony wins them just as often as they lose them.

Something that's sold 8 million consoles in the year since it's release? About the same number the the 360 has sold? And what is honestly the best Blu-Ray dvd player on the market, since it's already powerful enough to be able to do any new versions of blu-ray with just a firmware upgrade. Go back to when the PS3/Wii first came out and check the 360's sales. They're the same as what the PS3 is at now. Go troll elsewhere.

On What.CD? there's quite a few independent artists who upload torrents of their own work and then it's freeleeched for everyone. A link back to their site is there, and they do get donations.

And what a lot of people don't seem to realize, is that quite a few of the people committing internet piracy would never have bought the media in the first place, so they aren't actually losing any money.

My local Tilt closed last year, and I was really sad. I'm a DDR and Tekken player and they always refreshed. DDR was 75 cents for 3 songs, and Tekken was always 50 cents until you died. They also had Soul Caliber 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and a bunch of older crappier games. Now it's just Brunswick Zone. DDR/PIU/Drummania/GuitarFreaks are all a dollar for 3 songs. Allegedly they're getting a Beatmania IIDX GOLD machine pretty soon and it's gonna be the same price probably. They've got the newest Tekken, MvC2, SC2, TC4? maybe 3 I don't play it that often. THey update their games pretty often, and the prices are all a dollar or less for the game and you play until you lose all your lives, or for the sound sim games 3 songs. It's always been fair to me. I go to the Brunswick in Naperville. I'm happy I don't live where it seems the rest of the people in these threads have been with exorbitant prices and shitty hardware.
