    I think you are confusing RFID with the smartcard technology used by credit cards in the UK. I'm in the UK and I've never seen or heard of an RFID credit card.

    Huh? In my country (the UK), there's absolutely no sympathy for it. It's a disgusting violation of free speech rights. I'll certainly never visit Austria again. There's plenty of outrage.

    Surely you mean Austrian freedom. You do know Europe is a continent with nations that have different laws, right? Some of these nations are authoritarian, some are not. Some are socialist, some are not. Not all of them have these stupid restrictions on free-speech rights.

    Or do you hail from the Fox News school of politics, where European is one big, evil, socialist nation - like China, but without the cheap labor?

    The bacteria is mutating all of the time. Some of the bacteria mutate into drug-resistant forms, some don't. When the drugs are applied, the drug-resistant bacteria survives, the rest die. Now the drug resistant form multiplies and becomes prevalent.

    It's called natural selection and is a central tenet of evolution.

    Except it's not 24 bits, its 16 or 12...

    Firstly, video is stored as YUV, not RGB.
    If it's 4:2:2, then there's 8 bits for the luma and 8 bits for the chroma.
    If its 4:2:0, then there's 8 bits for the luma and 4 bits for the chroma

    Uncompressed 4:2:2 NTSC video is closer to 200 Mb/s - not 50.
    My guess is that they're using DVCPRO50 for compression, which won't be compressable any further without loss of detail.

    The audio, on the other hand, is clearly in need of compression...

    How is this any different to constituencies counting representatives using "first-past-the-post"?

    The constituencies, which are equal-sized buckets of population vote for their representative, who then goes to Parliament. The party with the most representatives becomes the government.

    This mechanism has been around since before the 1500's

    Err, not its not. A box is a hollow shape, typically with a rectangular base and four perpendicular sides.
    In this case "booth" and "box" are synonyms, since both have the definition: "A small, separated compartment in a public space"

    The Normans managed it in 1066, but Normandy was a Duchy and therefore a separate nation at the time. The Normans spoke their own language (Norman-French), which is what was forced on the English people
