I had a similar experience. I was outright fired while I was working through college because I wrote a PHP/MySQL website using Notepad instead of an IDE like Dreamweaver. Their reasoning: code debugging. It was kinda stupid considering my test server's php.ini had "paranoid" debugging enabled. Yes it is nice to have syntactical errors pointed-out on the fly, but does that handy little feature justify the money to buy such software?
Oh well. The company no longer exists and I've moved to server administration.
We had recurrent incidents on campus last year with sexual assault and they had to lock down all the residences and the labs, and as such, they took great pains to inform the students who had access cards for the suite residences that they would not, in fact, be in danger, be it financial or otherwise.
If your school is locking everything down thanks to sexual assault, because of the nature of the crime, they're obviously not thinking straight. That is a reactive measure and only instills panic. In the case of a shooting however, that can be a proactive measure to ensure that more people aren't harmed.
I'm sort-of wondering what Apple's market share of Unix-based operating systems that run on the x86 platform is. True. That will never be considered by the court. However, if it is, I doubt the EULA will be considered reasonable.
I second my fellow poster on this comment. How the hell is this flaimbait?
I, for one, am voting for Stephen Colbert. The system really screwed that guy. That and my political philosophies align not even remotely with either of the candidates chosen for us.
Try buying a small bag of finishing nails (quantity 5) at Home Depot with the self-checkout thing. I had to get creative and put my finger on the scale for the damn thing to stop telling me to "put my items into the bagging area.
In deed. People don't recognize that Third World nations need something more sustainable than a band-aid. By giving these people food and clothing, all that is accomplished is a temporary fix and a few feel good points for those who donated. Really Third World nations need to be taught how to fish so-to-speak.
I gladly buy from companies who have sweatshops in Central America. Is it because I'm a bad person? Hell no. I'm rewarding those who are trying to provide a living for their families in those poor regions without giving them a hand-out. Really the standard of life provided by the sweatshops in countries with them is much higher than the alternatives.
In the case of the V-chip, parents say stuff like "What the hell is a V-chip? Is that some kind of sex thing?". The only ones who use it the way it was meant are the over-protective/paranoid parents. At least that's how it's been in the cases I've seen over the years.
A similar device on consoles would be the same way. Without adequate policing/configuration, it's just unsprung weight.
Venus has a magnetic field. It's about 10^-5 that of Earth's but there is one there. If it weren't present, wouldn't the solar winds have stripped the atmosphere from the planet by now?

Just stating a bit less obscure reference.
I think it's from the Harry Potter movies.
Had you at least seen War Games, you would know that your Defcons are backwards. Defcon 5 = Peace Defcon 1 = Nuclear War
This is how they annoyed the hell out of customers back in the day. link I'll give you a hint... "Don't copy that floppy"

You can install Windows on a Mac. And that's fine. But install OSX on a PC and Apple throws a hissy fit... Am I missing something here?
What a coincidence. I wore that shirt this morning.
So what? Living has been known to the Republic of California to cause cancer. (Genetic pre-disposition)

AdBlock Plus + OpenDNS = I haven't seen an ad online in over 9 months. My life is better now.
Mantles contain thorium. Tritium is for fusion reactions.

Why do we need USB 3? The reason for my question is e-SATA. Why not pump more into development of devices that run on that interface instead of USB?
...but my password is always ); DROP TABLE user_accounts;
Get the Slashdotter plugin for Firefox and you can have OMG Ponies!!! whenever you want!
...not to mention coal plants release more radioactive contaminants into the atmosphere than nuclear power plants. Think of the children.
Kirk: I'll need 4 people on the away team. Me, Spock, Bones and Ensign Ricky.
Redshirt in the corner: Oh crap!

Having been sued in the past, I can say that without a doubt you're wrong.
Kind-of like the Annihilatrix used on Frisky Dingo. Two words... Global Warming.
