What rosy-coloured fairy-tale planet are you from? Do you really think that soilder's families get day-to-day reports where their army members are? "Oops, Jack got shot, let's phone the families immedatly that he's dead in this top-secret opertaion."
Now I only need a cheap laptop with USB, and I have quality streaming MP3 home stereo. Maybe I get this small Sony with the touchscreen, should be easy to make touchscreen-based song selector... hmm...
True, it seems that a lot of newbies are getting mod points lately. Then they just spread them out without thinking. Please people, when you get the 'honour' of mod-points, go and read the guidelines before starting...:)
This get posted and my 'Ask Slashdot' story did not? (FYI, I asked about photo database/archiving for Linux, something like IMatch on Windows, but noooo, that wasn't good enough) I want some of that stuff/. editors are smoking, it must be good.
(No offence, andrewsmith, your question is interesting, but still... ):)

Wish I had some moderation points for you.
Gifts are supposed to mean something. This christmas shopping spree crap is making me more depressed every year, this is supposed to be celebration of light. (That what it was, until the christians took it over), but have become the worshipping of Mammon, the old god of greed and money. Well, it's over now, PHEW!
Anyone want to make me an offer? Almost mint condition, only the gray pegs on top are broken off (stupid design) otherwise many PC manufactures could learn from this box; The HD are mounted SIDEWAYS, so you dont bleed all over the box when trying to plug in the drive cables, and it got plenty of space, maybe I'll fit it with an ATX MB someday, which of course will be dual CPU.:)
Thank you mr. Gassee, it was fun, shame to see you go. Now, can I bid for the be.com domain?

EVE Online is designed to be Elite of the 0's (can you say that?) Remember Elite? The classic from 32KB 4Mhz BBC computer. I spent countless nights playing that one.... Please make it feel like Elite...
Hello? Where did I say that UTF-8 being ASCII? I said compatible. UTF-8 was designed in this way, to make the transition somewhat easier.
And this is marked up as Informative, are moderators still getting crack with their modartion status?
All decent databases have unicode support and allow you to convert the data on the fly. What's the problem here? And if you use UTF-8 encoding you have ASCII combatiabilty (sp)...

Well, the Garmin eTrex are pretty small, and I recall a Seiko or something GPS watch...
Big deal. ARM has been doing this for years. If you want a really powerful and cheap and power efficient CPU, check out the ARM line. And I'm not only talking about the StrongARM, although it is nice. ARM's are everywhere where you need good CPU power, but want to run it off a pair of AA batteries... Would Transmeta get all this hoopla if Linus didn't work there?
