I think the complaints against facebook are no so much about campaigns doing analysis of data so much as they are about injection of misinformation and stoking divisions. And now that it has been exploited once, even the people that exploited it woudl not want it used against them in the future.

There's no other content on the channel that would make me want to stay a customer, it's certainly no netflix in any other way than the pricing.

  13. K-12 Education has so many variables, not least of which is the state of a developing mind. I get sick of listening to "advice" from parents of kids who sleep through the night from day one, or have a great circle of friends all through their school life, who are un-fazed by deadlines or allergens or self image issues or any of the legion things that can trouble a kid even if they have attentive supportive parents and are in good health. K-12 is a social maelstrom and some of those issues are not eligible to be "fixed"

However if Gates and his foundation can create a more level playing field that would be great - the schools up the hill have better student:teacher ratios etc.

And if he could do something about the condescending parents of the "perfect" kids that would be a bonus - maybe a gulag

I signed up for cable for an introductory $35/mo rising to $60/mo after a few months. That was about two years ago. When last I checked the internet only bill was $93/mo. It just goes up and up and they rely on you not checking.

So I figured I would see if it was cheaper to switch back to DSL. I was a DSL customer before I got cable, it was enough for me and they are advertising higher speeds since I last looked. So I call the DSL company, explain that I'm a returning customer, give them my address and ask what speeds they can offer. Turns out they need your social security number to be bothered to even tell you if they offer service in your area.

To be clear: The FBI expressly says that there’s no proof that any attempted hack on Hillary Clinton’s personal email account was successful.

I agree, lack of proof doesn't mean it did not happen, and it certainly doesn't mean she was "in the right" but there really does need to be evidence if we're going to say her emails got pilfered from her server, even if sheer luck played a large role in it.
