I'm more astonished that Rockstar would pull something like this. I don't play many of their games but I was under the impression that they were a fairly solid, quality game producing company.
I don't think it's fair to accuse them of not listening to players about the speed nerfs without mentioning that most of the players complaining about it were flying ships that could go so fast that they were pretty much invincible, something that CCP never intended to be possible. Also, IIRC, they did delay the rebalancing a few times because they were listening to player input coming in from the test servers and making adjustments. I haven't been following it that closely but apparently the finalized plan is quite different from what they originally intended to do.
I don't know about that, I'm 20 and I would love to see some Beatles stuff in Rock Band (actually I'd prefer Guitar Hero, but this would make me strongly consider going for Rock Band next time). Though maybe I'm just an odd one.
That it'll be just for geeks seems to be the general consensus here... I disagree. I barely fall into the geek category as far as your typical Slashdotter goes, but if these actually come out with a $98 sticker price on them, I'll buy one in a heartbeat and take it to class to take notes on. It's got a web browser, a keyboard, and word processor, what else would I need? Judging from the 2 minutes I watched of the video, it doesn't look unreasonably slow. Screw flash, 99% of flash crap is just annoying. It's not like I want it to play games on or do much of anything else, if I wanted that I'd buy a real laptop. I just need to be able to take notes, and if I'm bored read news sites and such. Ever since the EEE PC came out I've been eyeing it for that very reason, but it was just too much money to justify buying one. Something cheaper but with the minimum functionality that I need, like this, is exactly what I've been waiting for.
The only real problem that I foresee is that apparently it doesn't have a way to read PDF files on it (someone else mentioned that); that'd be a problem because a lot of my professors like to put notes up in PDF form. Maybe I'm just ignorant, but to me that sounds like a problem that could probably be fixed by some of our local hardcore geeks fairly quickly, and without too much trouble.
This doesn't just apply to the five different computers that PlaysForSure allows users to authorize Am I the only one that read that the first time as meaning that there are only five former customers of MSN Music?
I never saw the big deal about not "owning" your music. As long as I get to listen to the music I want to when I want to, I don't care who owns or doesn't own it, so I'm perfectly happy with my unlimited subscription to Napster. That's the one thing that's always kept me from buying an iPod- I like to be legal about things, but I don't want to pay $.99 a song to do it. If they were to offer a subscription or even a one-time pay $100-$200 thing for unlimited music forever, I know I'd be all over that, and I'd be purchasing my very first Apple product.
I'm lucky to get an hour of battery life on my dv9000t with max power-save settings as it is. Playing a Blue-Ray movie? I might get through the opening credits...
I know I'll probably get modded off-topic (or flamebait) for this but it's relevant to the parent post and I'm curious- what is it with everyone in countries other than the US being so proud of how their currency is doing? I mean, when I go to countries where the US dollar is more valuable than the local currency I'm happy because stuff is cheaper, but it's not something I care enough about that I go bragging about it. But when I was up in Canada when their dollar overtook the US dollar, and that's all every Canadian I met could talk about. Now the US dollar is (slightly) back up on the Canada dollar, but I didn't even hear about it here and I know that very few Americans actually give a crap. Of course, maybe that lack of caring is why the US dollar is dying...
Okay, say it is a conspiracy, what is the purpose of this conspiracy? Are we trying to keep 14-year old Hamad in Tehran from updating his MySpace? It's not like if the US cuts Iran off from the internet that they can just secretly go in and conquer the country without anyone noticing. Iran still has satellite access, or if all else fails, good old-fashioned 'walk across the border to tell their nearest buddy to let people know what's going on' access. Not to mention that it might be a little difficult to mass troops in preparation for an invasion without anyone getting suspicious.
Other than invasion I can't think of any reason to deliberately disrupt communications, other than just to be annoying.

Note that he did, however, wear a helmet, which I'm sure would've totally saved him from the 1000ft fall.
I don't plan on leaving any survivors. I plan on taking everyone out in one fell swoop.
Microsoft destroyed credibility [sic]
This part made me laugh.
Into Hershey's Pagers 'n Cream! A mouthful of pagers in every bite.
Apparently the recent upgrades have helped with fleet lag considerably - http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=918868.
:o
600 ship fight, no lag

Could we finally see Jurassic Park become a reality
Yea we should totally do that, because it worked out so well in the movie.

That's a lie.
"99.8 percent of Americans don't care about the Iraq war", says President Bush.
Oh yea, me too. I wonder about that all the time. Farctal planet arranging and gassy star giants and stuff, yea.

Well, that was my initial reaction, so I guess it works. You just had to go and spoil it... fiend!
You, sir, are brave.
Hmmm, Steveslist huh? *goes to check whether the domain is available* Hm, anyone got anything they want to sell? --Steve
Sorry, been a long day studying for exams.
...the vast majority of these comments are not bashing Microsoft. Who are you people, and what have you done with the regular Slashdot community?

Renewing your library books wasn't taking away life-or-death police resources that someone else might actually need.

...this time it got me out of my Boundary Value Problems class.

Hell reported record low temperatures.
