Actually, Apple OS X 10.4.9 works fine on a G3. Though there are a couple of apps that don't work, like the latest version of iPhoto, and iDVD, but for mail and web, it works great.
Try that with Windows Vista on say a Pentium III......
So does that mean when went sent people to space before, they got exposed to all kinds of particals and stuff? Are they still ok? If so, then do we really need this?
You really are insane aren't you. Go Google Apple and Awards and you'll see how many they have won. They are consistently tops in reviews for their designs.
The iMac is a stunning computer......I don't know what the hell you use, a white PC box? Acer? Dell? HP? Blah.
"You know, Hitler was fairly popular amongst Nazi's..."
I think you mean Germans, but, I don't expect History to be your bag.....
"I'm not trolling, my point is that just because something is popular does not mean that it instantly becomes good."
True enough
"Apple does sell crap products. Come on. Making plastic shiny doesn't suddenly make a product ten times better. Yesyesyes, I know I am just one person, but I absolutely despise the way the iPod looks, controls, and feels. Being used as a music player, I see absolutely NOTHING and I mean NOTHING that the iPod offers that you can't get elsewhere for cheaper and better. Not to mention the idea of controlling my music player with a mutilated nipple is a little...well, unsettling."
You are in the sad minority.
"As far as Macs go, the only thing I could see as being a good reason to get one is for the operating system. The systems themselves (again, in my opinion) are hairy-ass ugly, and frankly FEEL cheap (ditto for the iPod.) Every time I put my hand on that whole-click mouse, I feel I am going to break it. Yes I know you can swap it out, I'm talking about the Apple mouse specifically though."
Seriously, have an Apple next to a Dell. Which is cheap? Dull......
"I've said it many times, and I will say it again: Apple is EXACTLY as bad as Microsoft in terms of being power hungry and money hungry...they are just better at getting you to ignore that fact."
"Perhaps true, but at least Apple products are not going to put spyware or malware on my computer, nor are they going to have more security holes that it takes a 5 digit or higher number to keep track of.
Funny. People have no problem supporting money-vampyres as long as they provide a colorful interface. At least with windows (or linux, for that matter) I can customize my box to the absolute full extent and install it on any system I damn well please, as opposed to having to buy Apple's forced hardware.
To sum it up in one short sentence:
Putting sugar on shit doesn't make it anything other than shit."
You are a sad man, period. "They've all been overpriced, underpowered, poorly designed crap." Really, is that why they have been winning award FOR design, and are quoted numerous times as being cost effective and high powered? Go read PC World, or some other rags for the real info.
If you are listening to Enderle or Thurrot, I can see why your head is up your ass.
I'm getting one. My Treo 650, while nice, is bulky, and never syncs my contacts and calendar correctly with my Mac. I even have the "MissingSync", and it still doesn't work right.
The iPhone is more than a media player, it's the ultimate PDA. That is what I'm looking for. Something ultra modern, but without the lame keypad at the bottom. Can't tell you how many times I've had to open up my Treo to fix the keyboard when a letter get's pushed the wrong way....
Yup. I have my accountant, Sara, do it for me. Costs about $100, but it is well worth it. Another thing is to keep track of your money and expenses. Having everything on Quicken makes it a breeze to print, and then mail off the stuff to her when it is tax time.
Um, I am when I can. This last summer I drove to work only once a week, the other days I rode my bike.
The government needs to be involved. They need to push car makers to increase the MPG of cars, and promote Hybrid technology on all cars. In fact, they should mandate 90% of cars being made to be hybrid by that time.
Yeah. And it takes them......forever to do anything. I mean, this space station......how many years has it been under construction? Hubble needs repair and they are planning on doing it....when?
It's hard to get excited about something that is moving so slow.
Oh? And what software doesn't "suck balls"? iTunes is a great piece of software.
Lock up? I have a 1st gen one that works, never locked up, a 3 gen that the hd finally died on (was using it a lot as a portable firewire HD), a 5th gen that I use all the time, and a new 2nd gen shuffle. None of these have locked up.
"Pardon my bluntness, but that's really no different than asking what's wrong with lethal injection because it's, by far, the least painful method of execution. But regardless of the method you're still dead, just as regardless of the DRM, you're still restricted."
Ok. This is a bad comparison. So you'd rather not kill people who, with a jury of their peers, and after appeals, everyone says should be killed. People who rape and kill little kids. Yeah....
"Wrong! You can burn a CD and re-import it until Apple decides you can't. And that mere possibility is more than enough to make it entirely unacceptable."
RIGHT! Where is your evidence to suggest that Apple is NOT going to let you do this? Hmm? Oh? Got none? Didn't think so.
"Like you, I'm happy with my iMac. However, that does not mean I think Apple can do no wrong, and neither should it mean such for you."
Apple's track record is quite good. Compare it to Microsoft. It's very good. I don't see Apple screwing around with it's EULA because it would cause a huge uproar in the user base.
Waaaa. Oh, did you know you can drive another monitor on an iMac? Probably not. Or that the iMac's LCD is a great display, especially the 24" one. Probably not.
Ok, so the Mini has a 950 video. But what is the target market? Not the gaming market. It's targeted at people who just want to run computer stuff (IE: web, word, iTunes, videos).
Of course, most of the POP stuff out there, like 90%+ of the stuff on iTunes, is so compressed when mastered that an MP3 of it really doesn't sound much different than the actual CD. All that Rap, and Maroon 5, Fray, etc.
So why would someone want to run OS X on something OTHER than an Apple made computer? Do Mac owners want to deal with cheap hardware, driver problems, things not working? And what is the cost benefit? Like $100?
No thanks. I'm perfectly happy with my iMac. No problems. However, my Windows XP PC......that is a whole other story.
And what is wrong with iTunes? It has, by far, the fairest DRM. You can burn unlimited copies of the music (you are limited to a certain number per playlist, but you can make a new Playlist and do more). You can always burn a CD, and re-import it.
This is true. A solution would be to have a NAS hooked up at your relatives house, and have a high speed internet connection between the two, and have your NAS backup to the remote one.
Not true. If you strictly log on it the NAS as a read only user, and only add stuff to it using a virus/spyware free computer, say, oh I dunno, a MAC, then there should be no problems. Right?
Actually, Apple OS X 10.4.9 works fine on a G3. Though there are a couple of apps that don't work, like the latest version of iPhoto, and iDVD, but for mail and web, it works great.

Or....did we fake the moon stuff?
"Denny CRANE"
Upon which she was slapped another lawsuit for not giving the copyright hold royalities for a public performance of the song.

Neither one works right. I can never get the calendar (iCal) to show up correctly in the Palm. Ever. I've resetted, blanked out the Palm, etc, etc....
"You know, Hitler was fairly popular amongst Nazi's..."
I think you mean Germans, but, I don't expect History to be your bag.....

I bet you were the first in line for Vista huh?

Hey, Arnold has done a good job. He has been more effective than Davis was. That guy fucked up the economy big time.
Um, I am when I can. This last summer I drove to work only once a week, the other days I rode my bike.

Don't they have something better to do? How about funding our troops? Working out a resolution with Iran? etc etc.
Damn. Feinstein needs to be doing stuff for me, a Californian. I want her to get us off of using Oil, not worrying about Podcasts.
Oh, probably. There will be a developer's kit for it and what not. It's a while away, so, relax.
Yes. Red Dwarf. Wonder if the next Windows will birth itself as well?
Yeah. And it takes them......forever to do anything. I mean, this space station......how many years has it been under construction? Hubble needs repair and they are planning on doing it....when?

So, maybe they don't like you or something.

Idiot. iTunes 7 allows you to do that EASILY. Get a clue.
"And if you've got iTunes Store purchases you'd like to move from one computer to another, iTunes syncs in reverse, too -- from your iPod back to any authorized computer."
You can authorize 5 computers. Do some research. Stop the FUD.
Of course, most of the POP stuff out there, like 90%+ of the stuff on iTunes, is so compressed when mastered that an MP3 of it really doesn't sound much different than the actual CD. All that Rap, and Maroon 5, Fray, etc.

Seriously, these arguments are old and tired.
True, which is why you should back up a RAID as well to hard drives or another RAID.
Wise words indeed. But, you don't use DVDs to archive all that stuff. You use REMOVABLE DRIVES. There is a HUGE difference.
For the record, I use a NAS and back it up every time I change a bunch of stuff on it. It basically is holding music and various projects I have done.
The backup drive goes home with me.
And, regardless of what I have done, I use another drive, on Saturdays, to backup the whole NAS.
This is true. A solution would be to have a NAS hooked up at your relatives house, and have a high speed internet connection between the two, and have your NAS backup to the remote one.

So far, I've had no problems with it.
