Pure speculation here, but from what I've seen France is known for trying to maintain French culture, whereas the US was formed from and consists of people from every culture around. It's kind of hypocritical for Americans to say "It was fine for MY ancestors to bring their culture here, but it's not okay for you to do the same."
Also, in the US the issue is tied closely to the illegal immigration debate, which is a huge mess.
The PS3 barely puts out any heat when folding. I was surprised when I checked it in the morning and it was completely cool and not blowing out much heat. For perspective, when playing a game, the hot air coming out feels like my car's exhaust. The actual system stays pretty cool, though, which is a tribute to their cooling methods.
There's a whole lot of other stuff, too. On XBox Live, you can play Uno or poker against your friends, play Worms (which while shooting, takes quite a bit of strategy), and more. They're releasing Culdcept later this year, which is half Monopoly and half Magic: The Gathering, and that'll include Live play as well.
No, and it's ridiculous to say things in an absolute like that. I've been playing RPGs since FF1 and DQ1, and 7 (followed closely by 12 and Tactics) is my favorite, with 6 being one of my least-liked.
It's completely opt-in. All the people who don't want to use it can just keep going on as they are, and all the people who do want to use it can turn it on. I don't see what the problem is or why "privacy" tinfoil-hat-wearers are freaking out.
"In other news, privacy advocates are protesting the sale of camcorders. 'They can be used to track you, and no good can come of it! They should be banned!', one said in an interview earlier today."
This is a horrible, horrible Slashdot post. Links to an extremely outdated article, says completely inaccurate information (There's already a $599 Blu-Ray player - the PS3), and on top of that the news about Walmart could have also been mistranslated. From Engadget:
Update: Pull back the reigns HD DVD fanboys, Akihabara now says that they've made a "huge mistake" with their translation: the original source called it "(chinese characters) HD DVD and (same chinese characters) means Blu-RAY." In other words, Blu-ray HD DVD. Huh? Word to the wise: since both formats use blue lasers, it's best to wait for an English press release before either camp celebrates. Way to go Slashdot!
Besides, does it really matter if your website had 1 million visitors as opposed to 1.5 million? What would you do differently with the extra 500,000 visitors? I'm sure it matters a lot to people buying advertising on those sites. Having your ad shown to.66% of the people they're telling you it's being shown to would be a bit upsetting.
Just the opposite here. I have a modded XBox with just about every NES/SNES/Genesis game ever loaded on it, but that sits dormant while everyone plays Wii Sports or Resistance.
Not really. Just go back a few months, when the shortages were still happening. The 60GB models would sell out VERY quickly, while the 20GB ones would take quite a bit longer.
Adblock at number 3 the avoid? Not if you're an end-user.
If you're an end-user that values free content, it is. Where will we be if there aren't any free sites anymore because they can't make money through advertising?
(I'll admit that I'm a bit hypocritical, as I fast-forward through ads on my TiVo...)
So perhaps realism leads to the opposite reaction? When killing people isn't as realistic, it's easier to just slaughter mercilessly. When you actually see what happens to someone when you eviscerate them, you get exposed to the real horror of killing, and get quite turned off by it.
Exactly. They're not taking away map control, they're taking away map memorization.
Which would you rather use your power for? Making a more immersive environment or procedurally generating textures?
Really, more space is only a good thing, and 360 games will suffer in one way or another for lacking it, especially later in its lifetime.

Actually, the Vista + 360 Media Center integration is pretty well done. If only they'd add DivX support...
I heard that the project was shut down due to the sudden increase in broken monitors.
...Sorry, I had to do it. No, no you really didn't.That's kind of the whole point of DQ - it's completely old-school.

Either that or a lot of the games out for the Wii right now are just mediocre ports or gimmicky?
Listen, I love my Wii, but I'm under no delusion that most of the games aren't crap.

Wait, I'm missing why keeping your data for services you choose to use while knowing the terms you're using them under is considered "evil".
Perhaps if they showed themselves to be doing something evil with that data... but they haven't. Just having the data is not evil in itself.
So don't use it?

USB tuner add-on. Wouldn't be difficult in the least.

I love my damn salt.
