The elements on the far left side of the periodic table of elements are reactive with water. The farther down you go, the more reactive you get. For example, pure sodium produces a relatively mild reaction. Cesium, on the other hand, creates an absolutely HUGE reaction (BOOM!).
This is JUST what we need! A bunch of wild magnetic fields around our electrical equipment! I can't wait to get an adapter for my computer, there's space in the case right next to my hard drive...
People uploading stuff to webservers: takes a semi-technically inclined person to do it, webspace costs money, webspace is a lot more finite than hard drive space, doesn't get much traffic, doesn't get spread "virally".
P2P: Any Joe Schmoe can do it, it gets a LOT of traffic (millions of people on P2P networks, it's free, you can share as much as your HD can hold, due to the easy searches in P2P you get more traffic, files spread "virally" - one person can rip something and the next day hundreds can have it.
Err, it's not THAT hard to stop sharing things on Kazaa. You go into settings and click the little box that says "Disable sharing of files with kazaa members".
Well, I personally hate being hunched over the laptop if I'm sitting at home. I much prefer being able to lean back in my chair, put the keyboard on my lap, and surf away in comfort.
Mega Man X isn't supposed to be Mega Man 10. That's what the version of MM in the game is called - X. So, it makes sense to name it X1, X2, etc. rather than 11, 12.
Final Fantasy games have always been using roman numerals, so X IS supposed to be 10, and this new version of FFX is FFX2, said "F F ten two", not "F F X two".
Well, if you want something new, this game DOES have it. True, it has some of the same characters and areas, but from what I read, the gameplay HAS changed. They put in the JOB SYSTEM - probably one of the most universally liked systesm in all of RPGdom.
Anyways, why do people think FF is some sort of sacred ground that MUST REMAIN THE SAME NO MATTER WHAT.
I constantly hear people complaining "FFXI SHOULD BE FF:ONLINE, NOT FFXI!". Why does it matter?
They complain, "FF SHOULDN'T HAVE SEQUELS! IT'S JUST NOT RIGHT". Who cares?
As long as they're good games, why the hell does it matter whether they're a sequel or an MMORPG? Since when did the FF series become so completely sacred that they're not allowed to do things that they haven't done before?
I remember talk a while ago that the FFXI hard drive could ONLY be used with FFXI, and that no other games would work on it. It might have changed since then, but...
While I can see your point, it's a lot more helpful than you'd think. ANY famous person is helpful to the cause, whether they're in the music industry or not.
Imagine if the cast of Friends spoke out against the RIAA - how many previously-uninformed people do you think would look into it more and take a stand?
Well, I'm not sure what to make of the article. It says:
Ellis buys, fixes up and then resells used computer equipment on eBay.com. He had posted the two machines on the popular online auction site for six hours before he noticed, after turning one of them on, that it contained an operating system that let him access file folders from the bank without needing a password.
I'm not sure whether this means that the information was actually on the hard drive (in which case, how could he NOT notice it...) or whether there was just a program with a saved password that allowed him to log into the bank's network (a lot more believable that he'd overlook that).
Either that, or he bought them as "working" and then just checked to make sure they'd boot.
Anyone who's taken a trip over to Suprnova can tell you that a good portion of the movies there, no matter how recently they've been released, are of excellent quality. The high quality copying is done a couple ways:
Some of the leaked movies are a copy of the actual film that they show in the theater - they use a machine to convert it to a digital format.
Some of them are leaks of the DVDs that are sent out to awards judges. Every once in a while the words "For Your Consideration" will pop up across the bottom (this is also usually the source of the bootlegs on EBay)
With the ways movies are distributed now, there's really not much that they can do about cutting off the source. Until they move to a completely digital format in theaters will lots of fun DRM, this will continue. (Although even then people will find a way to crack it, I'm sure)
I fail to see the necessity to produce hundreds of windows-clone distros - isn't it win that we want to draw people away from?
The problem with this is that everyone already knows how to use Windows. So if you try to convert them to something radically different, instead of getting
"It looks and functions like windows. I already have windows. Therefore, I'm sticking with the superior(?) windows"
You're going to get:
"It looks and functions NOTHING LIKE windows. I already know windows. Therefore, I'm sticking with what I already know how to use."
Keep in mind how long it took for most people to learn how to use Windows (especially if they weren't brought up with it). Do you honestly think that Joe Schmoe is going to want to spend all that time again trying to learn an entirely different UI? It's doubtful.
I'm just pointing out that even modern devices have problems interfering with each other sometimes. Maybe I used a bad example. How about this one - when my neighbor uses his electric saw, my computer monitor starts spazzing out. Those two should have nothing to do with each other...
Way back when these planes were designed, there was a lot less they had to worry about. Nobody had a gameboy. Nobody had a laptop. Nobody had a cellphone. Really, there weren't any sort of portable electronics whatsoever. So they designed the equipment without really worrying about interference. Now that we've got all these devices, who knows what they can do to the old equipment?
Anyways, they SHOULD be looking for a solution besides "don't use them!".
The elements on the far left side of the periodic table of elements are reactive with water. The farther down you go, the more reactive you get. For example, pure sodium produces a relatively mild reaction. Cesium, on the other hand, creates an absolutely HUGE reaction (BOOM!).
It's a chemistry joke.

Cesium in your computer, huh?

Why are electric cars always so damned ugly?

Are you saying that someone who isn't technically inclined can set up Apache and figure out some, if not all, of the following:
1) Their IP address
2) How to set up an account with a dynamic dns service
3) How to forward port 80 to their computer if they're behind a router
It's infinitely easier for them to download kazaa, double click the installation file, click next a few times, and be done with it.

The reason is pretty simple.
People uploading stuff to webservers: takes a semi-technically inclined person to do it, webspace costs money, webspace is a lot more finite than hard drive space, doesn't get much traffic, doesn't get spread "virally".

Yes, they are releasing them here.
The PC version is scheduled for an end of October release, and the PS2 version will be released sometime next year.

Unfortunately, they won't let you use ANY programming language, your choices are: Java, C++, C# or VB.NET.
I was really hoping someone would join and attempt to do everything in FORTRAN or assembly.

Yeah, it's pretty damn expensive. Especially when you realize that you can't use the HD for anything BUT FFXI.
Luckily, the PC version is only $50, and comes out earlier too.
