.... for a steaming pile of shit! I see tons of posts "Compared to the other shows it's great." Let's get something straight: dog shit placed beside horse shit smells better, but guess what? THERE BOTH SHIT.
now that all children will be in school, problem solved. FUCK. Students should want to go to school, not feel that they have no choice but to go there. I really hope that education systems in North America can move towards a system that more about educating a student then ensuring test scores and attendence are up.
That's a very extreme view of the hate speech laws. In Canada we do not have boundless free speech. The law does allow (afaik this is how it has been interpreted) for someone to say homosexuality is immoral, but if that was extented to homosexuality is immoral and homosexuals should be hurt (in someway) then that constitutes hate speech.
First my bias: I'm a Debian user.
There are far to many gentoo fanboys that have simply discovered Linux through Gentoo (which is a good thing) that assume it is the greatest thing since sliced bread (a bad thing).
I'd suggest to them to give an honest attempt at another distro (Debian Sarge Plug). Then go back to Gentoo if they really thing it is the best for them.
Personally, I can't imagine compiling gentoo for each server, or even manging different binary sets for various CPUs, kernels are more then enough for me.
but that's just my $0.02 cdn
I thought not only was American Pie a lot more intelligent than I was expecting,
ok first off you were expecting some intelligence, second you saw some redemeing social values in it?
Fuck.
Conservitive yes, but only in the sense that the stable disturbution is rock solid. The packaging system is excellent, and the actual quality (i.e. setup scripts on install) of the packages included is by far the best out of all the distros.
It's not a great distro for those who want/need the latest build of something, but that's what their testing and unstable versions are for.
Their testing version is usually fairly current, equivilient to what most distros pump several times a year.
Unstable is the bleeding edge branch. it's Usually very current. I've run it on my desktop for years, other then the occasional packaging goof it's been great.
I'd suggest checking out the latest sarge installer release. It's much friendlier then the previous installer.
I've used firewire 800 PCI cards and HDs. AFAIK 1394b is 800mbps over a 9 pin connection. 1600 and 3200 would be 1394c and 1394d respectivly, if they were to follow the current scheme. I didn't realize it could be done over optical cable , I guess it's a very layerd protocol like ethernet.
Is it not naive to think that corporate self regulation is like the tax system, i.e. you can get away with anything till your caught. And without any sort of third party to monitor compliance, do we just assume that everything is fine?
Like I said I can build a comparable Athlon64 for 1/3 the price.
Will it run OS X 10.3? No.
Will it be a mac? No.
Will it be comparable to a Mac G5? Only if you have never owned one before.
okay everyone we got it wrong, let's cancel health care in favour of an american style system where credit cards are needed.
Try actually getting that for which your share of taxes pay.
ha
In Canada they are working towards full nation wide gay marriage, as several provinces and even one territory's supreme courts have found that banning them is against our charter of rights and freedoms. They are specifically ensuring that religious institutions will be protected from being forced into performing gay marriages (if they are not already protected). As Canada is a secular state, arguments that religion beliefs should somehow trump personal freedom cannot work, I would think the same would go for any secular state (i.e. the u.s.)
Check out this link on loyalty cards. Interesting read on who really beneifts from the programs, and how.

Well considering how much of a blaket term terrorist has become, what other threats are out there that these "LASERS" will protect against?
from the CBS article"Critics accused Ashcroft of civil rights violations but there was no second attack, Andrews reports. "br
We'll just have remove all the collateral damage that's messing up the place.
Right on man, I'm all for banning "Drugs". Where do you suggest we start? Viagra? Riddilin?
Get a fucking clue.
Linux will always have a "cool" logo. The (corporate?) Distros supply corporate stiff type logos.

This seems like a no brainer to me, how can there be any resistence to having the ability to verify the computer records?
just for your info, the new Debian Installer supports RAID and LVM on install and can even use them (lvm and raid1) for root.

I thought one of the ideas behind UserLinux was that companies could be created specifically to support it.
It seems like their reinventing the wheel
Why not pour resources into user Linux, or Debian directly? Does the world need another Debian based distro.

you're confusing R&D money and profits from price gouging.
I'm guessing silly laws in countries that many developers reside in.

yes, but if you're getting a new system, you should be 100% sure that using that hack won't void the warranty.

Just curious (as Canadian) why you think Nader is a crackpot?
