I dunno. On a transatlantic flight (read: any seriously long distance) I think I'd still choose being crammed into a Concorde. Taking a 767 in cattle class was pretty miserable anyway, and I'd love to get there in half the time or less.
The Apple ][ version of the original game made you identify ship silhouettes from the manual. In practice this was/really hard/ because of how primitive graphics were back then and how similar they all looked, and I found myself unable to play the damn game my parents bought me.
You and me both. I remember when you might see seventy comments on an especially interesting story, back before passworded user accounts, and twenty or thirty was more usual.
My previous work computer was a 1.5 GHz P4 with 512MB of Rambus. We didn't get it replaced until summer '07, and for a time before that I brought in my just-retired Socket-A system and stuck a few work-owned parts in there to modernize it. Made it a lot more bearable to do my job.
Heh. One of the reasons I did that was because the old klunker wouldn't run Vista and I had to be familiar with it. The Socket-A board wouldn't without an add-on SATA controller because there were no Nforce2 drivers for Vista, so we had to buy a Promise PCI card. Ran pretty decently after that, though, especially with a 74GB Raptor that I scrounged, which couldn't be used productively because the previous user had damaged the data connector - the end had broken off in the cable, so you could only use it with that one cable.
If you'd RTFA, it's not supposed to interrupt your reading. It'll show ads when the screensaver kicks in, and on the home screen.
I'd still not buy one of these - $25 isn't enough of a discount, even with the other stuff, and I've got a 3G K3 already - but it's not quite so bad as you'd like to pretend it is.
A wealth tax would probably be better, IMO. You own x% of the nation's wealth, you pay x% of it in tax. That'd do for the 1% that owns IIRC 40% of the nation's wealth.
I didn't vote for Hillary in the primaries for two reasons:
1) The wingnuts had a massive irrational hate for her, and at that point I had hopes for them. The birthers and teabaggers showed me I was wrong. 2) She was projecting an attitude of "I deserve to be President". I didn't care for that at all.
I kind of miss the old launcher that was in XFCE 3.8, which I gather was similar to CDE's. Is there something very similar to that which I can use now? I'm not too keen on awn or Cairo-Dock; they are too glitzy and have too many options.
because I do desktop support, including hardware diagnosis and repair.
However, in general I think being able to telecommute would be worth a small pay cut on account of less wear-and-tear on your car, less gas expended, and the extra free time - I drive 1:40 each day, round trip.
Couldn't sleep in later, though, because my kid needs me in the mornings.
Last time I upgraded, I had to throw out pretty much everything. Old stuff was AGP/Socket A/DDR/PATA, and a 20-pin main power connector, and new stuff is PCIe/Socket 755/DDR2/SATA/24-pin.
OTOH if I upgrade again, I'll probably wind up keeping just the hard drive, since my power supply's wearing out and it's running at near-max capacity anyway.

The summary reads like a press release. "Shook the cloud world", indeed.

No. It has a one-line (maybe 2-line) ad ad the bottom of the home screen.
You probably have no idea how retarded people who jump to conclusions sound.

Are you quite sure you can't download updates over the 802.11?
Also, wrong. The idea is to get people the cheapest e-reader possible to encourage uptake.

Oh yeah? How much is he planning on cutting military spending?
Also, his plan for Medicare bears an uncanny resemblance to the Obamacare boogeyman: they both mandate private insurance.

The truth^W^WScience threatens the parents' faith.
Don't ask why their faith is so weak that it has to be protected by the government from conflicting ideas.
That doesn't count. Ask any creationist.

Oh, that's why Rusty shut the gate.
You don't think it likely that they can work on more than one thing at once?
COME BACK TO K5 WE MISS YOU
We don't stick thieves' cant into the OED.
It's about time for a Final Solution for the Descriptivist Question.
It'd be time to give the cockroaches a go when that happens.
The dock appears to be basically correct, but that theme's ugly as sin and so are the widgets.
It's highly unlikely a Model M would have gone for $35 back then. That would have been the price of a commodity unit.
Mine's from Feb '88. Yours?

Not in that particular instance. The old HD was a 120GB unit that was nearly full.
