Why the hell you do think people skip them? Not because of the ad content though, it's because they DRIVE UP THE FSCKING VOLUME so fscking loud. I regularily have to turn the volume down on my set down when the advertisements come. And when the scheduled show resumes, it's so inaudible, I have to turn up the volume again to be able to hear it. Then the ads come again and they literally BLAST out of my speakers.
That's my (and probably others') big pet peeve about them. Oh, they could be less frequent too. There is such a thing called advertisement overload, as where the unsuspecting consumer is so irritated by the advertisement, as where they lose interest in the ad itself, and goes of to take a leak (or to do something else useful, like grabbing a beer or something). Of course, the product doesn't get seen when that happens.
You don't _need_ to have your MAC adress in your ipv6 address. The MAC adress in the IP adrress is just to ensure that at least on your subnet, the adresses will be unique. You can just as well use dhcp6 to assign whatever number in your subnet you want. Or if you want to really roll up your sleeves, you can just pull the numbers out of your hat (just make sure they're in the same subnet), and set up the routing yourself.
Oh, and of course you don't have to remember it, you only need to have your DNS server configured correctly.
You assume that everyone that uses KDE runs a rpm-based distribution, and even linux. I use KDE on FreeBSD. And no, kmozilla is NOT included in kdebase. Check out the source.
Anyway, like I posted somewhere else, I'd love to see if this is still maintained. Guess not.:(
Indeed... And google isn't being informative about it. I'd love to see a port for this in my beloved FreeBSD (which does not include it), not everyone runs KDE on linux and/or RedHat.
Nederlands is niet zo moeilijk. Daar heb ik echt niet meer van mijn hersenen voor nodig dan de 10 procent die ik nu gebruik. Maar dat komt natuurlijk vooral omdat ik zelf een nederlander ben.
ObTranslation: Dutch is not that hard. I don't really require more of my brain than the 10 percent that I already use. But of course that's because I'm a Dutch person.
Satisfied?:)
Oh, and your English sucks;) (by the way, mine does too)
Carbon was (is) an upwards compatibility layer for OS 9 toward OS X. People were encouraged to write carbonized apps in the OS 9 days so your app would work on OS X without having to run the Classic layer.
It's also VERY slow. And it's deprecated now (thank $DEITY). Apple now encourages people to write their apps with the Cocoa (formerly known as NeXTSTEP/OPENSTEP/whatever the capitalization was) framework.
Carbon is a speedbump that's no longer needed anymore. It needs to go. The old MacOS is no more.
No shit Sherlock. I applaud any finder replacement effort on Apple's part as long as they made it with Cocoa, and not in Carbon (which the current finder uses now). Carbon should die a horrible death, now that Apple said goodbye to OS 9.
As to what it does, well, the current finder does enough (opening files, dragging dropping, renaming, yada yada), but it's just dog slow at it. Folder actions sound nice though. I'd be looking forward to that.
Really curious as what effect the Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field will have on me that monday:)
Someone actually did this to me once. I found out when I drunk my first cup from it. Naturally, I went out and bought some real coffee, and blasted that person on the spot.
Like other slashdotters, I think this is quite evil. Don't take my caffeine away from me. It's what makes me function like a human being in the morning.
But I doubt that many americans will notice. They percolate, which is the most evil thing you can do to a brew. Takes all the flavour away. Yuck.
I too remember those days when a sysadmin (me) could use a 'special' DHCP lease as a LART because some $(LUSER) kept opening virus infected e-mails.
Anyhoo, disconnecting connections on the local network is ieasy. Just spoof the server endpoint and send some RST's to the connection origin you want to kill. That should stop any connection made quite easily. At least, that's how I stopped network connections originating from the LAN I used to administer. Great lart too. My hacked up version that did that used libpcap and also the parser, so I could target the offending host(s) quite effectively.

But will "they" learn? Probably not.

I'm just surprised RMS didn't call SCO's tactics SCO/FUD.

Is it some new kind of puzzle? I thought rubik's one was hard enough.
I seem to remember there was a Gecko rendering plugin for Konqueror. Does anyone here know what happened to it?
Mine does (Creative 3D blaster 440 MX). neener neener neener!
No, Linux is a tank.
That still makes him a Finn. And a swedish speaking one at that. Although, Linus does speak finnish, it's just not his native tongue.
Priceless... I'm a fan. Woohoo!
You get a mail loop. You don't want that to happen.

Drat! I wanted to say that! Oh wait, I can top that:
How about a MOSIX cluster of these!

Please refrain from telling us what you have in your hand when you don't keep it on your mouse...
(sorry, couldn't resist)

I have prior art! Just look at my bank account balance :)
Surely, that is a typo.
Why don't you check DMR's homepage to check it out? Google for "Dennis Ritchie", and you'll get there. No need to link.

(yes, a joke, get over it already)
Have fun...
