I don't know about the cats, but when
our dog started chewing on blankets and sheets in the bedroom, we gave him his own blanket. He now chews on that one, and only that one. He knows it's his blanket.
You don't need to have the phone hookup. See the thread a couple of days ago about how the Super Bowl was so heavily TiVoed and the reporting of that information.
Sure, I rewound the Janet thing a dozen times while my wife and I discussed if that thing was a pasty or tassel or what, but TiVo didn't include me in the 20,000 because our TiVo isn't hooked up to the phone.
Getting a job today is all about networking and knowing someone on the inside.
I think that if you ask your elders, you'll find that that's always been the case. Hiring managers would always prefer to take the recommendation of someone than someone off the street.
The self-made communities are kind of fun, except for two big problems: You can't delete a community, or even leave it if you created it, and you can rename any community at any time.
As a joke, I created a couple of communities like "Community For People Who Don't Join Communities" and "Orkut, for people who are users of Orkut." Turns out I got about 15 members of the Orkut community, who actually began discussing stuff! The nerve!
So I renamed the community to "Barry Manilow fans", and changed the image for the group to this. Alas, I went out for the day soon after, and by the time I came back, Orkut was down, so I never did see what happened, if people noticed or what.
That being said, it was nice to be able to create them for legit groups, like "Computer Authors" and so on.

Some WROX are OK
Remember that Wrox is out of business. They sold off their titles to a number of different publishers who have since repackaged them under new imprints. Same thing with Coriolis.
So, as a spammer, you only have to publish an SPF for your own domain, and your mail is garanteed to be nonspam?
No. It's authenticating the source, not the content.
A spammer at bigger-breasts-now.com could publish SPF records. It would mean that if I got email from bigger-breasts-now.com that it is indeed from that domain. No spammer would do that because it means that it makes it easy for me to blacklist certain domains.
SPF is about accountability. We, the good guys, are unable to do any filtering based on From: headers because they are constantly forged. SPF provides a way to validate that a message from AOL actually IS from AOL.
featuring joint work with Ben Folds, Henry Rollins, and Brad Paisley.
It's pretty clear that The Transformed Man was recorded with a lot of joint work.
Or maybe bong work.

This spam problem is getting out of control, I am glad that some one is trying, but the problem is that the spammers will probably move out of the country.
Which will make it much easier for us to refuse those email links.
I wonder how many of the stories and anecdotes that will soon be posted are actually true, and how many are apocryphal.
I've never seen a citation of the Bill Gates 640K quote, or the market for five computers quote, for example. They sound reasonable, but so are lots of supposed "facts".
Mama's got a squeeze box
She wears on her chest
And when Daddy comes home
He never gets no rest
'Cause she's playing all night
And the music's all right
Mama's got a squeeze box
Daddy never sleeps at night
Well the kids don't eat
And the dog can't sleep
There's no escape from the music
In the whole damn street
'Cause she's playing all night
And the music's all right
Mama's got a squeeze box
Daddy never sleeps at night
She goes in and out and in and out and in and out and in and out
She's playing all night
And the music's all tight
Mama's got a squeeze box
Daddy never sleeps at night
She goes, squeeze me, come on and squeeze me
Come on and tease me like you do
I'm so in love with you

Agreed... the fact that the weeders found these books remarkable enough to post comments about them suggests that these books are of interest and shouldn't be thrown away...
Remarkably BAD, especially in a school library. They're of curiosity value only, not something you want your K-8 to take as a serious reference work, especially the one about making paste out of asbestos.
Bottom line is that the library only has so much space to house the books, and anything that doesn't add value to the collection needs to go.
I hope it has that excellent Acer quality built right in!

Most importantly: Do any hiring managers use these boards to look for an employee?
Is this successor to XWindows actually YWindows, or is it simply XWindows-1K?
"Hey, Andy, what the hell you got there?"
So he got a job to work with a company where derogatory and demeaning remarks are acceptable? That doesn't sound "good" to me.
There's more to a job than a paycheck.
