Had my battery replaced on 12/17/2017. They announced this later than that, so I contacted Apple about a refund for the $50. Turns out they have a refund program if you had your battery replaced on or after the 14th of December. So, give them a call and they'll get your refund processed.
yup. I don't see how they can possibly justify this to their customers, or MS for that matter. They could serialize their chips... though, nothing to prevent falsifying that. Nope, customers get screwed, and manufacturers get screwed because FTDI isn't going to get angry calls that they can't just answer with "you should have bought a legitimate product" *click*.
Son of a....
I spent, literally, 4 hours yesterday trying to troubleshoot a 3d Printer (Tinyboy 3D), with it not working. MProg from FTDI said the chip was fine (right vendor and product ID), but it just wouldn't work. I tried every driver I could find. Finally, I uninstalled the driver, disabled wifi, plugged it in, waited for Windows 7 to install the version it knew (2.4 something), used Mprog 3.5 to reprogram the chip as legit (as per: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...), unplugged, replugged (at which point windows reinstalled it again, with 2.4), and suddenly it started working! I can confirm this "Non Genuine" serial data, since I opened up the Arduino IDE and saw that on the serial console.
You know, I sympathize with FTDI. They're having their tech ripped off. But, it's inappropriate to punish end users who don't have any say. Sure, we could not buy stuff that uses counterfeit chips, but many sellers aren't even going to know. FTDI should be pursuing the counterfeiters in China, and using what legal system China has to stop it. Either that, or create a version of the chip that has such a low price point, they put the cloners out of business by providing legit-working-alternatives for a price point. So annoying that I've lost time because FTDI does this crap, and apparently Microsoft is okay with it (I don't see how this should have passed WHQL).
Had one of these (and only one)... told them I only had Mac's at home, and the guy got belligerent and said I was lying, then finally after telling him that over and over for a good minute he basically said FU and hung up. Can't imagine what they'd say if I said I only ran Linux, or something really obscure ("Sorry, I only run OpenVMS"). =D
So yeah... guess their scheme falls over pretty quickly if you don't have a Windows box...
Toastman Tomato, far and away. Tested DDWRT, Tomato, Asus-Merlin, stock Asus... none of them, except Toastman, did everything I needed (ipv6, dns, nat local redirect, upnp/nat-pmp, etc).
Been using it for over 6 months, have never been happier with a home router. That said, pretty sure they haven't patched Heartbleed yet (supposed to be coming anytime).
So, are they going to give their chips porn names? Piledriver? Someone needs to clue these guys in... Just calling your stuff by construction equipment names doesn't make it cool. I'm a Mac user, and I still hate the fact Apple has latched onto this "let's call our products by their code names" crap.
Guess I should look forward to the days of AMD's Cleveland Steamer processors.
That this might get some in the nerd crowd to stop falling over themselves saying how great Ron Paul is. He's nuts, like the rest of them, just a different flavor of nuts.
He's useful for encouraging discussion. Beyond that...
this isn't a radical concept... I've done it for years. It's called "zero inbox".
If you're a Sys Admin, I highly recommend this book: http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780596007836
It covers the idea, and it's where I picked it up.
yeah, this seems like a pretty ignorant post.
Thunderbolt is not Apple (It's almost entirely Intel). It's not them trying to undermine USB3 (which is also largely Intel). And new tech is always slow to start.
Who writes this crap?
yes, their definition of cheese is horrible.

Though, the Korean origin is dubious at best. This is a long standing gaming term meaning to break the normal flow of the game by doing something "cheesy". =P
My home server is running Cacti querying my Airport Extreme basestation/router. It might be a bit much for the average user, so another option would be to find a Linksys or other type router that you can run Tomato on. It'll do this type of thing.
Almost all of them I can get in digital form anyway, so MOST of them I glance at, then promptly shred.
The ones I can't get digitally, I file in a file cabinet as I don't have a good way to digitize them at home (I could do it at work, but it's not that big a deal).
How many do I actually file per year? maybe a dozen. Most of them are tax related. All the actual statements for credit cards, etc can all be retrieved digitally from the company.
Not sure why free accounts that monitor a single host was a huge drag on pingdom, but whatever. Closed my account and now just use statuscake.
Exclusively use Topre switches. Have a Type Heaven at home and a Realforce at work. Best switches Iâ(TM)ve ever used.

This was my response. You also can't claim you forgot a fingerprint.
I, for one, welcome our new giant ant overlords. Also, where can I buy a 55gal drum of Terro? =)

Why did they use a signed int? Can I magically negative view something?

Or there's thorium. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thorium#Thorium_as_a_nuclear_fuel Just because Gates is behind something doesn't mean it's a good idea. Pretty sure Gates started out liking "Clippy" too.
