Real, expensive game boxes were meant to be used as a limiting factor to the number of accounts available at sign-up. And even that still didn't work for Blizzard, as they didn't anticipate the rapid sell-out.
Can you imagine the servers if the WoW client had been a free download? Even if accounts were limited, the cap would be reached quickly, leaving many people who really want to play frozen out by those who grabbed the client and an account, but never really bothered to play.

Titles
Fantasy titles should be earned through the mechanics of the game, and should not be recreated through character naming. This category includes names which:
* Consist of any title prefix attached to a character's name be it fantasy-based or not (i.e. Kingmike, Presidentsanchez)
If a player is found to have such a name for their character he/she may:
* Be prompted to select a new name for the character upon next login

Ask Slashdot: I've been wondering how to do my job. I figure other people out there have jobs too, and know how to do them. Maybe they can share their experiences, or even do my job for me!
Ah...Ah say that's what we call "a joke" there son...
I doubt Amazon has the shipping volume to garner such deals.

Gold farmers in WOW deflate the economy.
And here I was thinking this post would be about the large number of stories that are irrelevant, old, duplicated or pure pseudoscience.

Sounds like the replacement for Bumblebee Man...
Abortions for some. Tiny American flags for others.
Software designed for re-use will likely never ship, or ship far later than software designed to do something.
Lameness filter won't let me post the "O RLY" bird, which is really needed here.
I imagine that its only a matter of time before this is the case. gmail kicks the snot out of every other email client.

I stopped moderating a long time ago, and this is (and will be) +5 already. I hope this gets asked.
The couple of Peter Bagge illustrations made the whole thing worth it.

Because we all know it was the VC company that was truly responsible for Google's success!
does GPS equipment from the US work over there?
No. We made sure to send Africa very very degraded signals. How much does a meter of accuracy matter in a desert or jungle anyway?
Duh. Left. It's +7 to opening unknown doors.
When you're right for pretty much an entire 25 years, its easy to get smug.
People who need one? People who will get a return on their investment by buying a new PowerMac this year?

As long as you're ready to pay licensing costs in the 6 figures. Ouch!
