  1. Not the best price on AOL Canada To Offer VoIP · · Score: 1

Even if you convert to US$, it is a bit high. Not as bad as Comcast is planning to charge for their VOIP, though.

For example, I use Lingo (http://www.lingo.com) and pay $20 for unlimited calls inside the US and to a few places in Western Europe. Mainly I just call the U.K., and had 6200 minutes logged there last month. And the company that owns lingo (Primus) isn't too tiny either...not that I'm saying AOL is.

Sheesh, it was +5 a minute ago. 12-15 hours seems long enough (if they keep the current trend going with the latest devices). Just plug the darned thing in before you go to bed or something.

I know for the UK anyway www.jobserve.co.uk seems to be half way decent and there is a monster version too.

  8. Great for international on The Continued Advance of VoIP · · Score: 1

My SO is in the UK... So for me, being able to talk as much as I want every month (think a few hours a day) is a huge bonus. On top of it my cost is like $20 a month for this...

My mobile gives me $0.06/min, but that isn't -near- as cheap.

  9. Works with Pix at least on The Continued Advance of VoIP · · Score: 1

Yeah, it works fine behind a Cisco PIX firewall at least. :) That's what I use my Lingo VOIP with. Of course, if you don't forward the ports right it will cause problems.

I'd perhaps recommend against using a Pix though, as it doesn't support QOS.

My online banking with bankone works fine, as do all of my other financial sites. I even have paid all my bills for phones and other places w/firefox just fine.

Slashdot does render a bit off sometimes on the left side, but it is all I've really noticed.
