TBH I don't see how they can reduce the processing of something they have no control over.
With the exception of Grease-monkey scripts most browsers render what they are given as fast as possible.
Its just a new engine MS have been clever in that since they have used DirectX which their competitors cant use with out annoying the Linux crowd who also they also support.
Freedom is the not "best" way to maximise profits. I can understand why they do it but they are cutting their own throats by pissing off the legitimate buyer\owner.
This is just an expansion of the ban on gambling on the internet from a while ago.
The people who host the site are either not in the state or the country so the revenue generated leaves the taxable area so government effectively loose money on it.
TBH I think they should offer incentives for local businesses to start up on-line poker rather than ban the whole thing.
This is still an on going process I would have thought that it would be too early to tell which browser is to become dominant.
Basically this week will get the ball rolling next week people will decide to switch to another or back again and we will only get to see a true picture when things settle down again.
Err OK Silverlight is on version 3 so by your arbitrary method doesn't suck. It has a poor take up rate but does a lot more than flash can do but is generally considered harder to work with.
Windows Media Player stolen from Apple! Blimey something build for a different platform and even different processor architecture and running a different proprietary file format is quite a steal.
People have been saying that for years since 95 (maybe before).
If you look at the differences then you can see the evolution, Every version is criticised for being too like the last. Lets face if it was given a massive overhaul every 4 years then people wouldnt use since the learning curve would be too great.
I'd have thought this would be the style over function stuff apple would normally jump at.
We have sun in the UK just not scotland.
and apple would point the finger at VW as the cause of the problem.

IE is a Windows only browser.
Direct X is a Windows only technology.
Sounds like a match to me.
If Opera or Firefox which pride themselves that their browser runs on everything might have more of an issue.

How HD can you get on an iPhone ?
I'm not sure if your serious or taking the piss ?
Is this an April fool ?
"1st of April launch"

The browser choice is shown in your current default browser.
Its worth noting that it doesnt work with most of the lesser known browsers.
While that seems fair I'll be willing to bet its not accurate the first advert in an ad break is more likely to be viewed than the second to last.
Fewer adverts probably means more complete views since people would be less likely to pop off for a pee while the adverts are on.
as opposed to "scroll lock" at least I know people who have used Caps and Num Lock.

You copy and paste a Cnet article and post it up and expect no one to notice ?
At least give credit next time.
From the same source as the article it adds 7-8% which is down from a few years ago with a high of 10%

Ye caany do it or the whole thing 'll blow.
Just look at the first big bang.
Most big Xbox titles are like "Gears of War", "Left 4 Dead", "Dead rising" etc.
i'd have thought that would be "Objectionable content" on the iPhone?
And Safari for Windows.
And its automatically ticked when anything updates.
and middle america would think that you are a terrorist.

I cant help but to wonder if this will bring an avalanche of app which start up in the taskbar....
Or Brokeback mountain.
So I went to the apple site and tried to get a copy of a non beta browser, surprise I cant.
How can they call it a Beta if it already replaces the last version.
Is it on the updater yet ?
Is it still ticked by default ?
If ms or firefox did that they would be crucified.
