Since the Nazi era Germany has been trying to undo its own history out of shame and embarrassment. Hitler tried expunging their past and ever since they've tried expunging him from their past. Modern Germany has good intentions but the law system they've developed is a messed up funhouse mirror of criminal and civil law. By setting up a law system that doesn't allow for remembering their own history means they inadvertently risk repeating their past (again).
Look at modern China for an extreme example of how this works. Most Chinese have no idea what happened at Tienanmen Square or what it means to their history. This murder case is only a small part of a bigger problem Germany has.
One thing I learned about from the EDS failure back in 1999 or 2000 (can't remember exactly) but there was a series of bad storms in Georgia that flooded their main data center. It led to a nationwide failure of ATM machines that lasted several days. Their data center was modern and had everything it should have had. Except it wasn't above the flood zone. BIG mistake and it cost the bank I worked IT for a lot of grief.
So having an idea of the physical location can be just as important as things like how many 9s their service record shows.
How do you solve the problem where the jackbooted thugs come to your door because they now know you are using this software? Seems the only real advantage Chinese citizens have over the censors is the ratio of censors to users is very low.
For most people, myself included, gambling just results in an empty pocket. However I do enjoy going to Vegas or Reno because you can get really cheap rooms (completely dependent on the season and events nearby), lots of great food and entertainment. If you do like to play the slots you can usually get free drinks if you are willing to wait for a waitress to come by.
Generally though I go for things around casinos, not the casino itself. I think this trend is growing and that is why you are seeing casinos trying to reinvent themselves as entertainment showcases and not just gambling houses. It seems like fewer young people even know how to play most of the games in casinos.
That's probably true. Unfortunately most people I know that have an Android phone like the OS but hate the hardware (mostly the G1). Being IT people and a rather vocal group they tend to advise others as far as purchases go. The early Android phones are still lacking, especially in battery life which games will eat up like there is no tomorrow.
If you want to get a better understanding as to why doctors are so quick to toss you into a CT scanner, listen to the most recent episode of This American Life. It goes into the minds of doctors and why they use tools that aren't always even medically necessary and also explores the insurance industry and patients too. Very interesting stuff.
Hey, just as long as a sweaty Ballmer doesn't come running out of my kitchen screaming the "Developers" dance, throwing chairs around my house and hitting on my wife I'm all for it.
Having lots of fun and I made it to level 4 and then the screen is completely blank. I'm guessing this is a bug because it doesn't seem to do anything (though I can hear the shooting sound). Anyone else having this problem?
Sadly some people will believe this. Rush Limbaugh (who I am forced to listen to at work) spent much of the day talking about how this is really just a testbed for a weapon we can use against Iran. I can only imagine the kind of fantasies the oxycontin addled minds that listen to his program are having tonight.
The sad truth is that if you are white, have money, speak clear and fluent english, and behave yourself generally nobody will look at you sideways. Unfortunately the first two or three things rule out much of the world. And those very few that are looking for a fight will get one from customs.
The US used to be much more lax in security than it is today. 9/11 changed that for better or worse. I think the biggest problem today is so much of the "security" is really just theatre and does little more than annoy those who understand what it really is and alienate those that don't.
I have a Xerox Phaser 5500N that I love. It has every feature you need now and is future proof. Also it's as upgradeable as you can imagine if your needs evolve.
My cat's breath smells like cat food.

Sounds like Parts: The Clonus Horror (the basis for the remake movie "The Island").

Huston, can you hear me now? Good!
No, one is a federal law, the other is just an opinion.
I don't know, I think until someone else does it first in the realm of gaming I'd say it still qualifies as innovative.
You don't say "Meh, automobiles aren't very innovative. They're really just a horse drawn carriage without the horse."
I'll third that. ;p

If you have another Mac in the house it's very easy to share a CD/DVD drive to the server.

Do you like Phil Collins?

He thinks the internet is a series of tubes like his other angry old man buddy to the north...

Yeah and our governor can transport himself through time and space. Though I think his staff gets tired of seeing him naked.

We've come in peace, shoot to kil!
I had to check my calendar and make sure this wasn't April 1st!
Yeah I've seen how this movie ends...
