  1. Fundamentals... on Researchers Spin Out Smaller Electronics Than Ever · · Score: 4, Insightful
    To save you the time -

    Here's one I haven't heard before?

    ...Current day electronics are predominantly charge-based; that is, electrons are given more or less electric charge...

    Millikan says otherwise if I recall...

    Another strong point. . .

    ...does not require any physical movement of the electron and is achieved simply by changing its orientation

    Last I checked, only politicians could change orientation without physically moving. . .

    Currently, spintronics-based memory chips are being used in memory marketed by Texas-based Freescale Semiconductors, as well as data retrieval devices like those in Apple's iPods. The technology has not yet been incorporated in computing circuitry in any major way;

    Sorry, now I just have to ask who reviewed this article for sanity...

    I think anyone who has used a win95 or win98 box would say that things have gotten *MUCH* better in terms of reboots. The kluged driver model and TCP/IP stack that used to exist forced people to restart their computer to change their IP address and there were no permissions whatsoever (just a fancy-dan do nothing password box which you could get out of by pressing escape).

    What the heck are you talking about? If you're trying to say that there's hesitation toward scientific investigation because of what Christians believe about the bible... say it.

    No wait... maybe we should go ask bible-bashing-billy-bob and see what the real "state of the art" from the Bible's perspective is... or you could actually talk to some higher educated researchers and find that a surprising number of them adhere to faith which can't be explained away by the Big Bang and. . . . It doesn't sound that bad to me. Free wireless access in exchange for some ads? Yes I'd hate the ads, but I don't think Joe user would mind that much so long as it didn't physically interfere with their experience like popups.

    Heck, it would probably be entertaining for a lot of people for my girlfriend. I think the thing that a lot of slashdotters forget is that not everyone puts all of their worth in their independent activist intelligence. Some people don't feel insulted by things like this, in fact, often times they are blessed in a way that many of us (including myself) could benefit from because they just ignore it.

    I mean, really. Think about it. User goes out to favorite public park. Surfs the internet, chats with family back home, has to look at skippy peanut butter ad. I'd say it's a pretty fair trade.

    I guess more specifically and applicably, what kind of cash goes into making one of these? How much do they lose for every camera sold and not returned?

    I haven't taken anything beyond rudimentary physics, but that isn't the heart of my argument. Am I crazy, or does this guy contradict his own logic in the way he claims to bring a copy of the neutron back so that there are two. His later statement about the creation of a parallel universe is vague and partially contdradictory- "time travelers killing their parents and making it impossible for them to exist? No, he says, explaining that those travelers would continue to exist in a ''parallel universe.''" Is he saying that it's possible for one of the neutrons to end the universe it's in (provided it had the ability to kill it's parent, or perhaps it's entrance into the universe would radically destroy the laboratory as a side effet :) ) yet it would still live on in a parallel universe?

    So instead of people driving untuned decade old gas guzzlers, everyone is driving with the most efficient engine possible

    I'm having difficulty seeing the world in which everyone is able to afford this 'most efficient engine possible.' While I agree on the ability of fine tuning of the master fuel manufacturing centers, I don't see how anything would necessarily be gained. People would have to spend that much more to keep their new cars running up to standards, and this is assuming that everyone will have them, not the case. It would be great if everyone were able to pay for the new technology, but I argue that the reason which people are driving old gas guzzlers would be the same reason that keeps them from upgrading to this newest technology.

    Regardless of whether you care what AOL 'luzers' see, it is an extremely dangerous prospect; one enormous company conrolling what is seen by such a large population of the internet community. Regardless of whether they are 'luzers', infulencing them is still influencing a large part of the internet community. If these, so called, 'luzers' take most of what they see on AOL for granted and don't take the initiative to find other information or choose to disagree, this gives AOL Time/Warner the power to influence far to many people by simply having content in the right place and saying what they want. We simply cannot allow such a huge organization to control media over such a large group of people.
