I've never understood your antigun bigotry anyway, but in this case your just being silly. People have been using stocks on cameras for somewhere around a century now, they aren't useless they are actually quite useful. One area where they shine is if you are trying to do any sort of photography where you need to be able to take a steady shot of a subject that only holds still for a moment.
If I give plans for committing some crime against you then it is evidence of conspiracy to commit the crime. The speech itself should never be punished it's the crime that is indicated by that speech that should be punished.
It's worse than you think. I worked on the project 3 years ago and it was a horrible mess. They don't have any sort of 3D desktop concept all they have is a 2D desktop with 3D windows. The underlying 3D system is impossibly complex and non-nonsensical. Mouse clicks go through so many layers of checks that response time is ridiculous. They are using Java3D, which is incredibly slow anyway. To top all this off it doesn't look like they have changed anything in the last three years. I might have a slightly tainted view and I haven't looked at the code in three years, but I'm still highly unimpressed.
There are things I would like to see in 3D and I do think the capability to embed 3D objects is a useful step. Off the top of my head: -google earth in a browser. -games are always a target for tech like this. -any sort of 3d visualization of data that would benefit from non static viewing.
That said I disagree with how they made this, conceptually I prefer the 3D context for the canvas tag.
What about capturing a frame of video, how are they going to handle that? Obviously they haven't thought this out and it will like many other bills die a quiet death.
As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.
Repeal the Tiahrt Amendment- This would be a very bad idea go read up on why the Tiahrt Amendment exists that information should remain unavailable to the public for privacy reasons if nothing else. Also the reasons given there are incorrect at best.
Making guns in this country childproof- Safe storage is a good idea, but I have yet to see a good safe storage law.
Making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent- This is very bad.
I prefer this guy because he is better than the alternative, but I knew this was coming and it concerns me.
I have a copy that I got free from NCSoft I think a month before they shut it down it had a decent mic/headphone combo with it so I guess I got about $10 worth of hardware for free at least
Ok first off I have never played SWG so I have no first hand knowledge of the game. That said I got the chance to talk to the guy that headed up development of the space combat portion. So I asked him if he had played X-Wing, Tie Fighter or any of the other games in that series, his response was "no everyone always asks me that though, I guess they were good games."
The idea of P2P traffic systems is great in theory, but it fails as soon as someone decides to make a greedy or malicious node.
I've put a lot of thought into it because I like the idea, but I just can't get over the problem of greedy or malicious nodes without a government certificate system, like a digital license plate.
The problem then becomes there are all sorts of surveillance issues with government knowing which cars came into contact with which other cars and then also what happens when the certificate servers go down.
Obviously I'm not an expert in systems like this, but I would like to see someone who is an expert do some research along these lines, while fully considering privacy issues.
This right here is why I don't like the stock market either. Not that it is impossible to make money at either, but if you do so you do it at the expense of others without them getting anything in return.
Very true, I did a large project in Haskell for a CS class once the three of us working on it hated the language after we were done. Before that we were pretty happy with Haskell, because the programming assignments leading up to the final project were all fitted to the language, but the instant we had to do something that wasn't, we realized what a mess it is.
This is negated somewhat by the poor audience targeting. I think most people on/. would rather play something like this http://www.vendetta-online.com/

Randy Waterhouse had a display he just didn't trust it, because of Van Eck phreaking.
yes they finally fixed the problems with subtitles
The accuracy of this post depresses me.

The little blurb about people stealing brass from bomb ranges showed empty steel casings in the picture
What about an autogyro?
Relatively few moving parts, has good STOL capabilities and easily compacted if the blades can be folded.

My thought on seeing that was: WHAT they thought TIE Fighter was rubbish?

idle was becoming annoying about the time this http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/08/27/2246235 article was on the front page, also pants are what americans would call underwear.
I just left a very similar comment in response to someone else, guess I should have looked around the comments a bit more. -_-
Try out http://www.empiresmod.com/ it's a Half Life 2 mod that is an FPS/RTS hybrid.

Thank you for doing your commenting this way, I hope that more story submitters will try to do the same thing in the future.
