    I doubt it. All the software I've worked on in-house would be absolutely useless outside the immediate company, and no-one without expert domain knowledge would be able to add much to it anyway. I'd wager that most inhouse stuff is =not= reimplementations of things other people are doing.

    Or do a lot of companies calculate the industry cost of sunday magazine coupon promotions?

    Anyway, the big question is, how do we make a power supply that's going to be workable in 1k years? Batteries will discharge, any type of fuel/generator combo will have leaking/evaporating fuel, dried-out-gaskets, gummy grease, rotten rubber, rusted metal...

    I'm curious as to what workable solutions anyone has.

    Bull. I've done a lot of PHP, and am currently doing a lot of Java (JSP, Servlets). Once the JSP is compiled for the first time, the response time is not noticably different than using PHP or Perl or anything else.

    The program is needed to simulate physical laws. In The Real World, no-one would be needed to start things up, assuming the physical laws were already in place.

    Now, people can argue from now until the end of time about how the physical laws came to be, but that doesn't have anything to do with evolution.

    The difference between them and Bush is that Bush went to war about it, and on top of that now refuses to admit he was wrong. The Dems may have been running off at the mouth about Iraq, but the neo-cons are the ones who made decisions that have led to the death of over a thousand American soldiers and tens of thousands (and probably over a hundred thousand) Iraqi civilians.

    Now, answer the question. Invading Iraq was protecting the U.S. HOW?

    Remember when the administration said, RE WMD, it was a "slam dunk case", and that "we know where they are" ? Remember the satellite photos ?

    It was all crap. Crapcrapcrap, and they knew it. Bush should be impeached, and the rest of his administration should be in jail.

    And, yes, people from both major political parties believed Iraq had WMD. But it was the Republicans who decided to act on this "hunch", with no real evidence, and launch a war.

    Agreed. I also like my TiVo (as opposed to a MythTV box) because it's one less freakin' PC case to have sucking up space in my apartment. The TiVo just lives on top of the TV, with the cable box sitting on top of it. No noise, no mess, no fuss. Seeing as I don't have the time to futz with stuff all the time (having a real job and everything) I've become a fan of dedicated hardware.
