I can't say this about -all- commercial support, but it seems that a lot of it is there just so the PHBs can have a nice squishy feeling that they're getting something for their money.

OF COURSE the 80% of Americans who are Christian are being persecuted.

Every day, I see Christians beaten and left to die on fenceposts. I see churches being banned and forced out of town. I see scientists trying to force churches to teach evolution. I see those Christian bookshops being ransacked daily. There isn't a single Christian with political power. There aren't any Christian TV channels, or any on TV in general. I even see a major political party trying to pass a Constitutional amendment banning Christians from being married!

Man, they sure have it tough! It must be tough to be Christian in American these days.

What I'd like to see is more short instances for lvl 60s. Strat/Scholo/UBRS gets kind of old, and can often just take too much goddamn time. Something that takes, say, an hour or so with a decent 5man group, with an interesting boss fight at the end would be great. Think Stockades for 60s, with a fun fight like Archaedas to finish.

These mini-instances would fit with the game well, if they nerfed the drops and upped the coin drops. That way, you discourage equipment farming but let a casual player make enough money after, say, 10 1-hour runs to buy equipment comparable to what you might expect after a 4-hour raid. Personally, I'd love that; my tank's at 60, there isn't much left to upgrade w/out raiding, but I don't have the work schedule or social schedule to raid much so I'm stuck. I can easily find many chunks of an hour or two here or there, but anything longer than that is mostly unworkable.

Randomized instances would certainly keep things fresh, too.

  13. Re:Blowing Hot Air on Global Warming Dissenters Suppressed? · · Score: 1

Er, regarding possible Global Warming, one of the other responses to the GP (my post) pointed out this links:

    http://www.cmar.csiro.au/e-print/open/greenhouse_2 000e.htm

which discusses volcanic effects on climate.

    The link says this:

    "Gaseous emissions

Volcanoes are also sources of water vapour and carbon dioxide, but their contribution to the global budgets of greenhouse gases is very small. On the time-scale of decades to centuries, greenhouse gas emissions from volcanic sources cause negligible climate change.

However, volcanic emissions of gases such as sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen fluoride are important compared to human-induced sources. These gases have effects on climate (cooling), on stratospheric ozone and possibly on global cloudiness."

So, it specifically mentions that volcanoes have little effect on possible global warming; in fact they should have a cooling effect.

The wikipedia link -you- specifically mention talks about 'Long Term' changes on a matter of a few months or years, including red sunsets (from crap in the air) and cooling (again, from crap in the air). It doesn't say a damned thing about greenhouse gases, so your link doesn't support your argument.

I was telling the parent that one high year 8 years ago doesn't invalidate whole chart. Looking at that chart, how can you NOT see an upwards trend? Argue all you want about the cause, but I'm right that there is indeed an upward trend.

Perhaps it's coincidence, but you have to consider that this chart just happens to coincide with the Industrical Revolution, and that the temperature change has been accelerating upwards for the last 20 years, which about matches the Westernization of some Very Large countries in Asia.

Again, could it be coincidence? Perhaps. But I'd rather be safe than sorry, and work under the assumption that humans are, at the very least, adding to a naturally occuring warming trend. If I'm wrong, the worst that's happened is that we developed some cleaner energy sources and (most likely) reduced our dependence on foreign oil. (this was written from the perspective of an American.)

If conservatives want to have low taxes, they need to start actually picking specific gov't services to cut, instead of just bellyaching about generalities.
