    Yeah, I'm fairly sure this came up in a Bond movie. The one where the bad guy wanted TV rights to China. So he got some US military coding ring or whatnot that could send out properly signed GPS signals, and made some ships move into Chinese waters starting a war.

    Do you have any idea what the justification for this is? Not owning mineral rights to your land I can understand, but not being allowed to capture rainwater I do not.

    Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me when I went to a museum out in Portland and saw a 1:1 model of the Spirit rover (I think). I was under the impression that Spirit was maybe 2ft tall, and not nearly 5ft.

    Are you confusing HOMERUN with a different project? Wikipedia doesn't say anything about any losses with that project. I'll be among the first to criticize Wikipedia, but little facts like people dying is something that I do trust Wikipedia to have.

    A top of the line video card can pull a lot of power. A 6990 will idle at 195W, max at 489W, and in real world tests ran at 331W.

    Is the mail portion of Netflix no longer profitable? The MPAA can do nothing to stop Netflix. The only thing they can do is make a deal, they sell DVDs to Netflix for cheaper prices and Netflix doesn't make them available for 30 day or whatever.

    Not sure where you pulled those numbers from, but even pretending you are correct, you phrased it wrong. "Most Windows computers will spend ...", autoupdate is the default, it happens without user interaction. During the reboot there is some time lost, but most users can find something something else to do for those few minutes.

    Please explain to me why a marine force should be a separate entity from the navy, as well as having dedicated naval, land, and air offensive capabilities.

    You answered your own question

    Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the forces/equipment aren't needed, just that having one Commander in Chief overseeing four major armed forces branch with overlapping abilities, plus all the separate intelligence agencies, seems to be a good way of making sure no one has any idea what's going on

    The Marines have a bit of everything, and have a single chain of command. They don't have to rely on others to do their job.
