Yeah, I'm fairly sure this came up in a Bond movie. The one where the bad guy wanted TV rights to China. So he got some US military coding ring or whatnot that could send out properly signed GPS signals, and made some ships move into Chinese waters starting a war.
But then, it's also illegal for me to capture rainwater, which seems at least equally strange.
Do you have any idea what the justification for this is? Not owning mineral rights to your land I can understand, but not being allowed to capture rainwater I do not.
I've done that before instead of actually looking up the relevant XKCD and gotten modded up for it; but I only did it when the relevant XKCD was well known like "little bobby tables"
Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me when I went to a museum out in Portland and saw a 1:1 model of the Spirit rover (I think). I was under the impression that Spirit was maybe 2ft tall, and not nearly 5ft.
Are you confusing HOMERUN with a different project? Wikipedia doesn't say anything about any losses with that project. I'll be among the first to criticize Wikipedia, but little facts like people dying is something that I do trust Wikipedia to have.
He was modded down for being off topic, his comments were completely irrelevant to the discussion at hand. If I hadn't already commented I would have modded off topic as well.
Is the mail portion of Netflix no longer profitable? The MPAA can do nothing to stop Netflix. The only thing they can do is make a deal, they sell DVDs to Netflix for cheaper prices and Netflix doesn't make them available for 30 day or whatever.
Not sure where you pulled those numbers from, but even pretending you are correct, you phrased it wrong. "Most Windows computers will spend...", autoupdate is the default, it happens without user interaction. During the reboot there is some time lost, but most users can find something something else to do for those few minutes.
WARNING!!! This is a link to tvtropes.org. While there, don't click on any links to any other sections of tvtropes. Tvtropes is a trap! I say again, it is a trap! Start following links there, and next thing you know it will be a week from now and you'll have a thousand tabs open and still be reading. You have been warned
That just gave me a brilliant idea for a grease monkey script, it would disable all URLs on the page making it safe to visit.

Please explain to me why a marine force should be a separate entity from the navy, as well as having dedicated naval, land, and air offensive capabilities.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the forces/equipment aren't needed, just that having one Commander in Chief overseeing four major armed forces branch with overlapping abilities, plus all the separate intelligence agencies, seems to be a good way of making sure no one has any idea what's going on
The Marines have a bit of everything, and have a single chain of command. They don't have to rely on others to do their job.

In Boston other cars are actively trying to kill you.

A top of the line video card can pull a lot of power. A 6990 will idle at 195W, max at 489W, and in real world tests ran at 331W.

300W lol, a single upper-mid-range card will pull that by itself.

Any sources on that?
Came for Sluggy reference leaving satisfied.
If this Thanksgiving is anything like the last one maybe I'll have a chance to catch up with it again, I think it's only been two years.

I usually prefer mentioning the fact that we haven't needed, not to say we haven't, to make more Purple Heart medals since WW2.
Then why do the French riot every other week?

I'm about 99.99% certain if they did that it would be a massive violation of PCI
Actually I think I originally installed it for NBC to watch Lost
