Same advice I give my other friends: Stop saying speed-of-light travel is impossible. There is always the chance that in 300 years you will be proved horribly wrong.. my suggestion? Just stop commenting on it. Physics is going through its "15 year old girl phase" right now. Every few months the "newest, biggest, sexiest, most awesomest thing ever" comes along.
Wait till it 30.. it'll stabilize around then.
So what you are saying is that if Microsoft offered it as a free ISO then people would learn what ISO's "do" and would then immediately turn into pirating assholes and bankrupt microsoft?.... you sir should work for a linux distro.
This is a fundamental flaw in today's science fields. I see it time and time again. People become so caught up in the "high" tech. Never bothering to learn the roots of it.. don't get them a lab. Don't get them a kit. Get them a damn book. Then get some resistors, IC's, diodes, ETC. Let them learn eletronics that way. Chemistry?? Same approach. Let them learn how to do everything, I gaurentee that the kid who knows the roots of everything will forever be better then the guy can write the Java code for a robot.
I am sick and tired of this stupid argument. People are NOT animals. We have control over our actions, and MOST of us have control over our actions and thoughts. We are less willing to induce control and "restraint" on children because they are not as capable of controlling themselves. As such, its a simple thought proccess. The more control you have over yourself, and the greater the ability to understand your actions and there reactions, the more willing we are to restrain someone.
Take for example the argument that we should not execute the mentally challenged.
Why?
They are incapable of understanding several key things. Same with children, animals, "vegetables", ETC. Those groups of subjects are given special consideration as far as restraint and discpline.
Is anyone else really confused about these ISP's aren't being sued to oblivion for breach of contract?? I'm no expect(ok, I work with wan lines pretty often, but still), but if I have a serious line(say, a t3?) and I find out the SOB ISP is throttling ANY of my data(or even reading it), I will bring an unholy hell of a lawsuit upon them. The likes of which makes most lawyer's cry themselves to sleep. What the hell is going on??
Consider that best buy, circuit city, and every small time PC repair shop on earth offers this exact same service. People already pay hand over fist to have someone else run some basic software, or in Sony's case... run that software once, update the image, and image that option onto your PC instead of the bloated one.
The only time the gaming industry doesn't have a "banner" year is usually right before the new platforms launch. Right now there are 3 "current-gen" platforms selling big, with big games coming out, that charge big bucks. Wii will keep being a mega-hit, Xbox360 will continue to dominate PS3 because of Xbox Live, and sony will keep its share with PSP/Blu-Ray(/PS3). PS2's hugest edge over orginal Xbox was game selection, with that gone Xbox is showing some of its strenghts.
Its not an issue of making laws for every single new techonology. Its about making laws that cover our basic rights and are upheld purely on those basis. So this means company's cannot take our information and share it whoever they want, because we have a law against it. Its fundamental issues that are in need of clarification, not little laws for every application.
I think this is more a sign that the telco's really need to look at phone security. If a teenager can STILL phreak, decades after it started..
Something needs to be done.
Putting "Vista Capable" on a machine is much like saying E85 capable on GM trucks.. while it may indeed be able to use it, no one in there right mind ever should..
This sounds more like a problem in the encryption SYSTEM. Its kind of like saying "Encryption makes you weaker because your more likely to use passwords. Which can be brute forced!"
Seriously. Microsoft is getting picked on. They are using standard buisiness practices to ensure market share. We don't yell at GM for not making its On-star open to everyone. So why do we get pissed at microsoft for not opening its formats to us? They would have to be idiots to agree to it. As much as this will be modded to -1 billion idiot or something, its true. I for one salute microsoft for its steadfest dedication to not caving in.
And as a slashdot fan, this will eventually screw them over. When I can share my spreadsheet from desktop, to laptop, to PDA, to amazon reader with no issues... I will be using that spreadsheet all the time. Not the microsoft closed source.

..isn't he on slashdot.. ASKING FOR HELP?
...the repercussions are a more literal translation of BSOD then we generally want..
Actually the most enlightened Buddhist is in Nirvana, and is free from being human...

"Next week on World of Bender! He gathers 9 rabbits while dodging the fearsome White wolf!"
Actually.. when does this show premiere??

Damnit AC. I was going to make you a friend!:P
Its as if millions of 45 year old women screamed in horror and were then silenced.

Because experts are never wrong. Infact, did you know experts always completly agree?

I would guess the line leasing fee's to be out of this world. *cough*

I know, I know. Actually thinking a post through before posting.. what nonsense.
This really uh shines some light onto what the DOE is all about eh? *sigh*..
