This current thing came about when, recently, people signed to Tokyopop contracts starting comparing them. There's been a lot of discussion recently about this, about Dave Sim's attempt to negotiate with DC over art for a three page Fables story, and self publishing in general over at Warren Ellis's Engine forums.
I could get links for all this, but I am far too lazy.
The founder of Seven Seas apparently kept track of all the discussions and made a decision to do what he did, which would be great if it became a trend. Don't see it happening, but still.
This has been a huge problem for longer than the past year, what took Microsoft or even the FCC so long to do investigate? The investigation wasn't exactly rocket science, they set up a zombie and watched it take connections.
"An analyst downgrading his expectations"? Are you fucking kidding me? So when they blow the fucking roof off the even lower expectations they can be ZOMG even MORE bullshit amazing than they will already surely be?
This is like MS having elevnty million consecutive quarters beating earnings expectations because they had them lowerered just to beat them every time.
According to this, Thompson is somewhat full of shit.
"A representative of Jeb Bush's press office characterized as "untrue" yesterday's Jack Thompson press release in which the Miami attorney and self-described "anti-game crusader" claimed that he was crafting video game legislation on behalf of the Florida governor."
I always wanted a fu-fme, but sadly they aren't OS X compatible.:(
On a more serious note, I'm considering one of these to help convert the mounds and mounds of greek cassette tapes my parents have from the 60's. If only something like that existed for 8-tracks..
Frank Miller was 100% involved with the Sin City movie.
Alan Moore has nothing to do with the V for Vendetta movie (his choice), Fate has been changed to be a shock jock, Evey isn't going to be caught selling herself to start the film, in the film there are a great many people dressed like V all being unhappy with the government together (which is always funny, anarchists being anarchists together). The list of ridiculous changes from the comic to the movie is somewhat long.
If you have any love for the comic, you'll be most displeased with the movie.
Microsoft has renamed their long delayed Windows release "Windows Forever". Bill Gates was quoted as saying, "If it worked for the Duke Nukem franchise, it'll work for us."
What about horror sites like stile project or ogrish or whatever that are clearly not pornography but don't fit into.xxx? Why not just make.nc17 or.mature or.adult or something?
I really believe someone is going to eventually introduce legislation forcing adult content onto.xxx, or something specific, and I think that's a mistake.
To make an analogy (uh oh) I probably should've made above, retroactively creating a.xxx is like trying to ban guns in a country that already has millions upon millions of guns already in circulation. It'll never work.
I don't really understand the point of a.xxx tld. You can usually tell from a domain name if you should be loading the url or not, it isn't like everything will be forced to use.xxx once the new tld exists.. unless..
If the point of.xxx is to force adult web sites into using it, how long until adult sites are sued into the ground for using other tlds? What if I'm running a french or italian language site with occasional boobies on it on a.com tld, would some tool force me onto a.xxx? Or even a.uk site?
Blarg..xxx is perhaps more stupid than the entire artificial tld scarcity bit.
Whoa, whoa.. "defecation on people"? There's a Veronica Moser of video games? Someone is going around Mosering (or Tobias Beechering, maybe) people in video games?
About the only good thing about my long-gone Toyota Corolla was that the key was near flat and could be copied at my local hardware store. The one time (so far...) that I've locked my keys in my car, I had the backup ready to go.
Why would you wait for your domains to begin expiring? Transfer them now - you don't lose any registration time, you don't have to sweat any deadlines or your domains accidently dropping because you cut it too close, etc.
I never understand why people wait until their domain is about to expire before deciding it's a good idea to change registrars.
This new law may not be so bad, but I guess it's just the next step in privacy loss. "Give them an inch and they'll take a mile", whoever came up with that gem.
How do you get around Cygwin requiring registry additions to function properly? I find installing Cygwin on my usb keychain is worthless for random machines that have different drive configurations, or that I don't have Admin access to. Pretty annoying.

Bullshit.
I've been using a 256kb stick of edo ram for a keychain for years. Perfect size, extremely handy.

Coulda sworn I read that somewhere recently.

The suite was given to X.org.
Gentoo reccomends you use X.org, X.org is in the portage tree.
X.org has released the package.
The only person talking about XFree86 is you. What the hell are you talking about?

WHY DID NO ONE INFORM ME OF THIS EARLIER?
Ask and ye shall receive. Compare it to the GBA game too.

unxutils is great, doesn't require windows registry crap like cygwin does.
also, this topic is a dupe from like.. last year or so. someone will find the url..
It's been "floating around" since April 27, 1998. Read the article. ;)
Why don't fax machines have whitelisting or blacklisting capabilities? Or do they?
I can't wait for the day I can announce my Natalie Portman sex robot on slashdot for sale. I'll make *billions*.
Well, it won't be my PERSONAL robot.. it'll be in mass production..
Shit.
