While I can't say I love macs(only because I haven't had the chance to own one of my own), I like the design of the things, and the fact that it's made out of plastic is fine. I only commented on this story because there was a prior post on Slashdot about one of the machines that had been destroyed in transit. If someone has found a way to repair plastic that has been cracked I say good job. When it becomes available to the mass I won't have to worry so much if I drop stuff as I do so often anyway.

I would guess that you are right, I simply felt a little angered by this post. I'm not even of the opposing view and I felt angered. Of course I'm over dramatic sometimes when it comes to forums on the internet.
KDE makes a great piece of eye candy for people when your trying to convert them Linux from a windows operating system. I'm glad that this and gnome continue to improve it only makes it easy to convince people to try something other then Win32.
While I do not agree with term limitations for congressional office this is what you get when you have career politicians in office unchallenged for all many years. If your congress person doesn't understand the subject he/she is voting on then get rid of him/her. All people including the readers of Slashdot need to stop voting someone into office because they believe in a single issue.
Slashdot readers don't care about what you have to say on this matter, unless you can somehow link Microsoft using it's monopoly power to make NVidia buy 3DfX they see it as perfectly fine that Nvidia bought it's only real rival.

(Ati is fine with the Radeon I even own three cards myself but they don't care about the gamers market)
It is my experience that many younger computer geeks have a certain attitude and lack of patients that basically turn them into that one character on computer guy on that SNL skit. That's not to say that older geeks don't have their own things that make them a pain in the ass. Though they have patients they have grown a god complex greater then the young guys that they get pissy at.
This just means that no matter what age, Geeks are ego tripping idiots that need to be knocked down a peg.
Personally I see gift cards as a very selfish gift. "I couldn't think of a real present to get you, so I'm giving you this gift of pseudo cash. btw you can only use it at XXX"
Damn if your gonna be so impersonal as to give a gift of money then give something that can be used anywhere.
Of course it's stealing, but that's not to say it shouldn't be on slashdot. assholes using technology to do stupid things like this is normal and should be reported.

I just got my DSL this week, I've been waiting a long time for the chance to ditch my 56.6k modem. and damnit I love it. how much I will love it when the service starts acting flaky I dont know yet
It's hard writting something on the net saying you hate open source when you'll be attacks by the islamic foundamentalists of the internet(open source zelots).
that's all fine an dandy. but I live in this ghetto ass area in Cleveland where cable modem companies aint even planning on offering service in my area.
