You also forgot Windows SharePoint Services. It's built on top of Sever 2003, and FREE, yes FREE (except you have to have Server 2003). It's used for collaboration and users can callaberate and have really nice web pages done very esily. You can checkin/checkout files and work off line. I know people run it on their laptops and do all the work, through the own WSS and when they get to their corporate account they sync it up again.
My favorite one at my school was two people walked into a 'secure lab' - you needed an access card to enter into the room. The door was propped open to let some air in. They walked into the back room, picked up two servers, put it on a cart and left.
This happened when the lab was completely full in the middle of the day.
I could fit any operating system in 6 lines... they would just be 6 REALLY LONG lines =). In fact why not just remove all the new line characters and have ONE REALLLLLLLLY long line of code.
Why can't I play my Game Boy Advance on take up on landing!
Plus I don't want to hear people talking on the planes. The ones that do (on the tarmac) are VERY loud, annoying and very rude. Every single one of them yells into the phone so everybody knows half the conversations.
Has anybody actually seen anybody use the phones in the airplane? I haven't, and I've been playing my whole life.
This isn't really big news to me. They had this in Boulder, Colorado for (at least) the last 5 years. Not every light as on this, but there are a few. They are clearly marked.
1. Bill Gates has been losing money. He is only worth 47 billion. If anybody remembers he was worth almost 90 billion a few years ago. He donates his money to his foundation, which frankly, is one of the best foundations.
2. Microsoft is hiring in the US, and aren't out-sourcing. However, IBM is laying off people left and right in the US to be replaced by Indian developers. But that's okay.
3. Microsoft hires a lot of Indian people and brings them to the US, along with people from Japan and China. A lot of them get their green cards and all of the US works pay taxes to the US government.
3. 70 billion? Actually less than that.
4. If you want to talk to the developers you can send them e-mails. Heck I'll respond =) but I won't be of any use for Windows.
But, I was referring to an article a month ago talking about a HUGE virus going over the Internet. But the only way to start the virus was to open up the password protected zip file and run the executable from the zip file. I was arguing this is not a virus even though this is included in the statistics they are talking about.
And I don't see how my solution is the same thing as "there's a door so my house is safe". It's more like, "Baracade yourself into your home and make it like Fort Knox"

No, I believe this is called a simple electronic device that beeps. You don't need a program to have your computer beep at you. When you hit the power button it starts a buzzer.
I am very sorry that you are jealous of my education.
I like it when they call them virus's but people have to physically make them run. So basically the greatest virus detection system is never to run any executables..........The computer just beeps at you when you try to turn it on...
The reason Micrsoft patents everything is to protect them from frivalous lawsuits (e.g. Eolas). Microsoft only pulled it's muscle on a few patent cases (e.g. Lindows).
Microsoft has patents on stuff that Open Source uses, has patents on stuff Sun is using, etc. And the other way around.
The cost of lawsuits is too expensive, esp for little details like an icon or what not. But companies (Eolas for having a page get information from another server?!) are created just to create items that Microsoft has not patented and sue them. Just look at Eolas - it's one guy and he was asking for 500 million for something that has been around for at least 10 years.
No effect at all. If anything it will actually help Java out.
Don't see how conspiry theory's are marked interesting.
Java is to big to be killed, and it's the source for a lot of money for Sun. This will actually help both C# and Java because you can write in either language and compile into either Java Byte Code or MSIL (Microsoft's Byte Code). This will also help the Mono project out and make Eric Raymond's group's job a lot easier.
"SCO has filed a motion for the patent infringement claim to be split into a separate case."
Does it seem like that SCO's plan is to waste everybody's money and focus on the lawsuit. Even if they are found that the lawsuit is unjust it still has scared people into not using Linux. It has also wasted millions of dollars from Open Source communities, IBM, Novell, etc. Maybe they are using the tactics of spending $100 dollars so the competition has to spend $1000.
The best example of people getting scared is what happened in Japan. A company, company A, created a really neat software package. Another company, company B, copies the GUI down to the pixel. People get confused and start buying company B's product. Company A threatens a lawsuit and everybody that uses company B's software buys company A's software. I'm sure if company B threatened the lawsuit everybody would switch to company B's product.
The reason companies have intimidating stickers is because of stupid law-suits. Somebody opens up their device, does something wrong/stupid and expects the company to pay for it. Why do you think they have stupid labels on products. Like "Don't use this hair dryer in the shower!"
For being so meticulous on every product (specifying USB 2.0/USB 1.0/Firewire) with the number of ports, even Windows XP 2004. Even getting exact numbers for the number of decibels, ratings, etc.
But the L1/L2 cache is 1000. Anybody notice the problem w/ this number? The fact if it is true that it's 1000b then you just wasted money on 488,b it should be 1024. No computer person would make this mistake because it's ingrained in our heads. And he isn't doing it to make it easier for users (since he's talking about 256-bit video cards).
A high school student, I believe in Idaho, won a science fair contest 6 years ago (I was in high school physics). I showed my teacher the original and he laughed - proving the person won a contest by copying somebody else's work.
This is the oldest story and other cities have been doing this. Just like everything, there isn't any creativity (only like.0001%). People just rehash somebody's else work.
They do use the WMP to help people. They play videos and give tours of the computer. You know that really annoying that when you install XP makes you do, that you have to open up, wait 30 seconds to close it? It's great for people who don't know much about computers.
When I was doing online content with Java, etc. It's a real pain in the arse to get everything to work for all the web-browsers, let along getting the plugin if its not installed.
I think the best solution is that Microsoft should have a WMP light version that plays CDs and some movies. Remember the old media player? Had 4 buttons. It was the greatest!
It's called "Talking Rain" available in Seattle.
I am running Office 12 on Windows 2000 and Windows XP both just fine =).
Today I got my phone bill and it said:
"10 Dollar Credit: -$7.24"
So does that make open source code worthless and that's why nobody should ever use it?

Once this is done, the Explorer becomes like the iPod. When the car's battery runs down, you replace the whole car.
I throught this was already a "feature" of Ford. Or do the cars even last *that* long...
This is actually illegal, and the IRS has this information. And who knows, maybe the government owes *you* money.
You have to pay taxes. If you don't fill out your paper work they will give you a fine and you have to pay interest on it.
This is also tax evasion, which I believe is a federal offence. You know, this is the only way they took down mobster.
This isn't really big news to me. They had this in Boulder, Colorado for (at least) the last 5 years. Not every light as on this, but there are a few. They are clearly marked.
Not sure how you got interesting.

I actually received this one.

Actually it was always 1.6 billion. The article yesterday posted it wrong.

Due to inflation it is now Broadband.
Of course, I always noticed no 'food' or 'home' was ever mentioned.
