Playing some recent PS3 titles, they are way out infront of anything even a high end PC can manage, it's clear to me the Xbox is not only holding back PC gaming, it's also holding back PS3 gaming.
It's also gimping PC and PS3 network gaming, by forcing developers to use P2P systems rather than the usual PS3 and PC Dedicated server setups (COD MW2 is a recent example of this).
The sooner the bodged abortion that is the XBox dies, the sooner we can all move on from the XBox disaster.
Thanks, I wasn't aware Opera could use GreaseMonkey scripts. I have now looked into it, and there LOTS that Opera could do that Firefox needs extensions for (including NoScript, GreaseMonkey and AdBlock+)
It was lack of GreaseMonkey that was my only reason left not to use Opera permanently, so I am pretty pleased I found this. No more Firefox bloat and seemingly weekly security fixes for me...
more security exploits, crashes, slow and bloated browsing experiences Firefox users have ot put up with, before they seek out better alternatives like Opera?
Just wondering. Or are those pains part and parcel of supporting American or OpenSource products? You take those problems with it?
Both of those are hard to exploit (unlike the Mozilla flaw, which there are tonnes of exploits in the wild), and both were fixed in 10 days, a quarter of the time it took Mozilla to fix 1 highly critical defect.
The fact it took a media shitstorm to make them release it, rather than the security of it's users, shows where Mozilla's priorities are...
The exploit has been in the wild over a month. That is NOT the "way to go".
Security needs to be built in from the foundation, not patched in as you go.
Firefox is the bodged and patched up house built by cowboy builders. Opera is the luxury apartment built by skilled contractors.
The German warning still stands, if you use Firefox, you are using a browser that has unsecure foundations and at any point you are open to attack as soon as somthing crops up (the fact it's got a decent marketshare also means it's worthwhile to make exploits).
If you want security, then Firefox is a RELLY bad choice, which is ironic, as most of their usebase came from frightening IE6 users into moving to something "safer" (IE8 is far more secure than Firefox these days)..
You know it's taken over a month to fix this right? The exploit was discovered 18-02-2010 according to securina.
Opera takes less than a week usually (and the occurrence of exploits is less also).
The argument that Open Source allows anyone to fix things and thus making patches quicker does not work, as clearly it also opens up your code for hackers to review looking for new exploits. I don't believe in security by obscurity, but the fact remains, Opera is closed source and the most secure (and fastest) web browser out there.
I mean Microsoft have sucessfully sold broken consoles to games for the latest 4 years, and they even queued by to pay to buy replacement broken consoles.
Consumers are idiots, gamers in particular, so why no cash in?
You really need to take a look at Opera 10.51, it look identical to Chrome (better in many ways), it's 25% faster than 10.50, which beat Chrome in javascript benchmarks, includes Mail, News, RSS, IRC, it's standards compliant and also the most secure.
Anyone using Chrome is either an idiot, or really doesn't care about their online privacy...
It's not only the fastest, best looking and best performing browser, it's also the one with low marketshare with loads of room to grow.
I'm recommending anyone that asks me what to choose, to try that. Simply because it's more secure and better than Firefox and does not have the privacy problems of Chrome, and Safari, is well just rubbish and doing what Opera did 5 years back.
Hulu only blocked PS3 soon after they singed a deal with Microsoft...
I believe that's called Collusion in legal terms, and highly illegal in both the US and Euope. But of course it's Microsoft, so US enforcers turn a blind eye and have some nice donations...

These idiots are just upset at Sony because either:
a) they crushed their inferior HD DVD bandwagon they prematurely jumped on. b) they bought an Xbox as it was first out the gate (but broken), and Sony came up with something much better soon afterwards
The rest of us just buy Sony products, because they are usually very good quality for a small additional premium.
LOL at all the idiots that believe everything they read on the internet, and can't see viral marketing and spin if it slapped them in their faces...
You of course realise that Sony are responsible for some of the biggest and most popular formats of all time?
I bet there will be idiots banging on about Rootkits (these stories always bring them out the woodwork), they seem to have it on their minds that is was Sony that created the "rootkit", and have eased "First 4 Internet" from their minds, as that does not fit with their agenda...
The number of people that don't yet have a ebook and "don't get" the concept if e-ink is staggering. Clue: e-ink does not melt your eyes like a TFT with a backlight...
Handbrake project got invaded by Apple fanboys, They also removed all the profiles except the Apple ones, go figure. The tool is now about as useful as a chocolate fireguard, and most people have either moved to other tools, or using old versions..
Shame it used to be a good app.. What idiot would lock an app down to apple-only profiles, when they have such a small marketshare?
"If it's a problem sir, you are more then welcome to not go through the scanner, however you and your family won't be getting on any planes"....
Stopping annoying kids from planes is personally a fantastic idea... The reality is, however, when common sense kicks in, parents are going to put either security or the lost holiday infront of a lame media hyped paedo worry...
Opera 10.5 is the browser to beat right now. It kills Chrome in speed, and is more widely available than any other browser. It's also fully featured and heavily customisable.
FOSS is not a feature. it does not offer the user any advantage, only disadvantages really, hackers can browse the code for exploits. Sure they claim anyone can fix these problems, but that's not the reality.. Firefox is one of the worst browsers out there for security track records (worse than IE these days).
How do you come to that conclusion?
No great shakes...
It was being abused, so it got removed. Blame Geoholt...
Let's not forget other consoles remove features too..
The NXE removed the "subscription" feature which allowed you to set your 360 to automatically download new demos and such.
Waiting for the first idiot to try and sue them.... (the update is optional... You just need to decide what your console is...)

That is where this story falls down...

So you are saying it wasn't the severity of the exploit that moved it's release date, it was the media shitstorm...
Sounds like Mozilla have their priorities wrong.
However is REALLY bad, and like where Opera was 5 years ago.

The problem then however, is everyting else will seem like a total PITA..
