I actually tried to find one with a better keypad. I replaced mine this week because the old microwave's keypad started losing buttons even though everything else on it worked fine. I really like tactile feedback on buttons, so I wouldn't want touch buttons, but I wouldn't mind having those clickier flat buttons with the arched metal underneath. I just know my buttons will be the first thing to go on the replacement. I didn't want to pay for nicer features if even the nicer microwaves use the same kind of buttons.
According to the article that provided wikipedia with the 30TW number:
Without utilization, the terrestrial heat flow is lost to the atmosphere. In this case, the isotherms run parallel to the earth’s surface (i.e. horizontal in flat terrain) and the perpendicular heat flow lines point towards it. If, instead, the isotherms are deformed and the heat flow lines diverted towards heat sinks, the heat flow can be captured (Figure 1). Production of heat/fluid from geothermal reservoirs leads to the formation of such heat sinks and/or hydraulic pressure depressions. Their effects will be treated in more detail below.
If we're just capturing heat that would be radiated away from Earth anyway, then we'd hit a hard limit above X TW, but we wouldn't cool the Earth at an accelerated pace because we're not digging deep enough to change the conduction of heat outside a localized area.
Yeah, and could you do a fully interactive read of an MRI with one of those? Would be very useful to push and prod and turn 3D scans, and peel away layers. There's plenty more applications.
Google didn't think twice about naming their failed messaging service Wave in reference to the communications in Firefly. Of course, I'm not sure which lasted longer - Google Wave or Firefly. Maybe there'll be a movie.
Except they were so out of touch with everyone but the shareholders, that they didn't realize that we had nothing to really be excited about - and definitely didn't think there would be a negative for anyone. It was supposed to be a 100% PR gesture - an apology followed by a "look what great things we have coming."
I am probably going to discontinue my service anyway because of the lack of a Linux desktop client. It has been way too long. I shouldn't have to pay Microsoft or Apple just to watch Netflix.
You aren't going to get past the DRM demands of the studios. There's no equivalent DRM available under Linux. You don't have to pay Microsoft or Apple. Buy a Roku for under $100. Or get a Wii for $149. Or get a Blu-ray player that has a Netflix app loaded. Google TV?
They thought they were following an apology with a great announcement that would make up for it. But it was a stupid idea, and they only found out how much they hadn't thought it out after they announced it.
For the same reason we can't just buy a generic satellite dish and receiver and subscribe to individual channels direct from the provider. Granted, it would be great if that were to happen, too, but convenience is HUGE. Having one app to see content from any studio is a big win.
How did they expect to negotiate content at the same or relatively similar rates to DVD rental? DVD rental only works because of fair use - not because the movie studios would ever offer anything for commercial gain at that price.
No emails to customer service is a big negative, and I've wished for it more than once. Especially on a few of my worse streaming experiences. Seems that some of their british TV catalog does not play correctly on some computers or devices because of the 50hz interlacing. I'm not sure what happened, but I saw interlace artifacts/combing. No way to report it. I could say that the picture was "blurry" but that wasn't really true. Their drop-down for instant streaming trouble is VERY limited - without even an "Other" option.
I have one using Tomato, and I love it. I was a huge fan of DD-WRT, but the simplicity of Tomato won me over. It has plenty of power for me, and the UI is pretty. It handles torrents very well since it's pretty well loaded with RAM.
Having N at only 150mbps wasn't a dealbreaker for me. Wireless is just more reliable with multiple antennae.
Yeah, because Occam's razor wouldn't tell us that the driver was being attacked by dozens of bees when he lost control of the truck. Some of them got into the cab before they left.
You can order prints on photographic machines at any 1-hour photo these days. Just have a negative made from one of those, or maybe they can go direct to negative.
Sure, let's go with expanding. In my state, the state contribution is decreasing. With increasing student enrollment then that means public universities have to charge higher tuition to the student to maintain the status quo.
Just one, I think. It uses the one baked into the firmware instead of reading the hardware due to some sort of flaw. So you either can modify the mac address in the firmware file, set it via script, or just give up and use a different alternate firmware.
Don't forget Microsoft BOB
Go back. There's a few dozen comments on that page now, and most of them don't know it's a Seinfeld quote/joke.
And it can't move up without getting thinner. We might be talking long time scales, but it's still inevitable.
Don't worry, the volcano will do a good job of that.
Add to that how hard it is to get time off if you work minimum wage and you need to go to a job interview.

We all knew Facebook 3rd-party developers would capitalize on it eventually.

That's what I meant. Sorry for using the wrong word! I knew what I meant!

Not quite true, I was only holding out in hopes that they wouldn't go through with it. If they did the split, I'd likely drop one or both services.
No, that's Silverlight.

It probably would, but if they can't stand the heat going in, they won't like it when it's coming out, either.
