Simply look at Gamestop, a wall for DS, a tiny 2 foot wide section for PSP.

The DVD argument is only in the United states and countries that bent over for the United states to force their laws on them. DVD playback is easily done in a Linux box, hell I'm ripping Blurays on my Linux laptop. It is a unjust and corrupt law that makes it illegal, it is not a technical problem and never has been one.

As for gaming on linux. Gaming on linux is fine, the problem is companies releasing linux games. There are NO technical limitations keeping gaming down in linux. In fact there are a ton of really good games made by indie artists for linux, but many gamers refuse to try anything that is not from EA or their favorite sweatshop.

Honestly a redesign using ion engines of today would make a different craft. Plus it would allow the craft to not just speed on by in a ballistic trajectory, but even start breaking and enter a orbit that would allow the craft to stay and radio back info.

It can be electrically powered by Nuclear reactors, and as each one get's past it's 20 year lifespan you jettison it making the craft lighter. Ion engines already are producing impressive thrust for the age of the technology. An unmanned interstellar probe moving at 12% the speed of light, assuming it does not plow into something out there is a very feasible project and could gather scientific data the entire way. Although the Doppler effect on communications would be interesting. But research into really measuring time dilation could be done as well.

Honestly? why try grand experiments like this?

the 4 cyl engine already in these vans can gain a LOT of efficiency by simply adding in a transmission that is properly designed. a 7 speed transmission that adapts to the driving conditions, would boost fuel economy numbers drastically.

have a "city mode" that runs through the first 4 gears skipping 1st to take advantage of gearing at lower speeds, 1st is only used when the vehicle is loaded down with your 7 family members that all weigh over 250-350 pounds. the top 3 gears are used for highway cruise. Or let's use a CVT transmission to even further boost economy? (Note I know how notorious Dodge transmissions are for failing)

Couple that with a smart torque converter with lockup to eliminate losses after it is up to speed as well as decent aerodynamics and you can easily make a Dodge caravan get 40mpg on the highway and 20+ in the city. Will it accelerate to 60mph in 1.2 seconds and do the 1/4 mile in 9.2? nope, IF you need that buy something else. 95% of all minivans are used to carry the 3.275 kids and all their crap around town or drag the family across the state on a weekend trip to grandma's. They can boost the fuel economy numbers drastically with current technology. They just find that it get's more press and attention from the tree huggers if they can slap the word "hybrid" on the thing.

The DS on the other hand get's played, heck my wife plays it a lot. yet the PSP1000 and the psp3000 I got for a deal both sit there unused because we cant find any games that I want to buy. THAT is why the PSP is dead, Sony releases only crap games.

AS for the PS3, they started the war, but the ps3 still was a distant 3rd in the consoles. I know more people that own a Xbox360 and a Wii than I know own a ps3. Why? the PS3 simply does not have the games to entice people to play it. PS3 motion controls suck compared to Microsoft version and this is from most gaming reviewers, I personally think it's nothing but a Mee-Too catchup to the Wii..

You think people will buy a PS3 when it get;s known that you will never be able to loan your games or sell them used? HALF of gamestop's business is used games.
