This is seriously not news. This kind of accident happens all the time with fireworks shows. How this got on to the front page of Slashdot I'll never know.
The difference is that Microsoft supports multiple old versions of their OS. This is only one version more than the previous Adobe, and its only been a couple of years max since the other.
No he has a point. Good web design takes as many possible outcomes into mind as feasible. Adding a background color takes about half of a second and is webDesign101 material.
LOL what? Seriously? Unless you ARE a web developer, please don't make statements like that. Website developers thrive on having the latest and greatest, because its a PITA to test older versions of browsers which don't behave as they SHOULD. Website standards evolve quickly.
That's what I want to know. There's too many comments here wondering about the price of the patents and about the relevance of AOL, but previous few wondering what was actually purchased and what it means for everyone.
Here's a better idea: start a campaign to get IE7 updated at work. That way website developers everywhere won't want to lynch mob you. (That said they should at least do due diligence and try to make it work in IE7 (which I assume they already have).
Transcribe the video or nobody cares.
You see? This is why we can't have nice things, Barry!

whoosh!
It doesn't matter. You would still need that kind of speed on the internal network where the stuff is being cached.
Waste and spend are two entirely different things.
Ditto. Add one more person who did this in the late 80s / early 90s in elementary school.

Good luck with trying that. Let me know how it goes for you. It's never going to happen for me.
You say that, but the resources have to come from somewhere, and that means they are being spent on SlashBI instead of Slashdot Classic.

"Windows XP was the first stable OS to come out of that company" INCORRECT Windows 2000 was the first stable OS. XP was less stable than 2000.

Seriously. This study was released way too early. People don't buy cars that often.

Exactly. If they were truly listening they would have had this already.

I'm running it on Vista currently
(the exact name to google being "nview desktop manager")
What about the virtual desktop software built into the nvidia drivers? I looked around and nothing came close for me.
Again, is that somehow different than the XBOX?
Barring and "should not be purchased with company funds" are two entirely different things.
I'm so tired of this attitude. It's people like you that keep me from having an apartment on the moon.
I just took that to mean the man who hired him was even bigger than this big man who hates authority figures
