No seriously. There are MANY monitor technologies, and some deal better with glare than others. Matte displays, IPS, high DPI, different backlighting technologies, etc
OR BUY A SHADE (or adjust your external lights):
Adjust your lighting sources or block them out with a shade. You can buy these box-like things that go around monitors to shade the display by blocking lights. That will cut down on glare entirely since there is no external light to cause it.
I think there's definitely a market for these drives. Think of an HTPC for example. I leave mine on all of the time. I have terrabytes of video, BUT that video is only written once. It rarely ever gets anything but reads. Yes I could and do use an HDD for this, but they aren't silent or low power. This SSD could be just what the doctor ordered for this type of use.
You don't have to convince me... you have to convince the lawyers, local laws, national, and international laws. Good luck with that. So many things _REQUIRE_ a signature and paper trail, legally speaking. It's quite sad.
Good luck with that. I bet you could get close to a paperless office, but with the need for a legal department and/or HR, it isn't going to _completely_ happen at any office. People still use fax machines:(
Take drop box. Show me two apps one server and one client that uses the same client app across multiple platforms that allows for easy, secure syncing to not just one server, but any server I choose?
I'll take that open-source bet. http://owncloud.org/ I'm already running copies.
I hadn't even thought about the multiple user accounts aspect. For some reason its not being pointed out in the news much and I didn't realize the obvious on my own. I'm suddenly glad I read that article.
How about trying to make robots which don't get tons of hair caught in them requiring attention multiple times per vacuum, or charging circuitry that doesn't break after maximum 2 years?
It doesn't even have to be Android smartphones. There are other options (tablets, car stereos, desktops / laptops...). As far as the controls go, you hack the wires of a USB controller and remap the buttons in software if needed.
As a poor kid who's single parent worked all day, I take offense at your statement that summer was really boring. Get outdoors, hang out with friends, wander around, use your imagination. There is plenty to do.
First, seriously, thank you for the tips. Some of these weren't there last time I checked (granted this was years ago).
Any idea how to turn off transparency for the gui SYSTEM WIDE not just on the menu bar?
As for the "why can't I get rid of the Start menu" in Windows comment, you can. Very easily. AND Windows is still quite functional without it.
You're kidding right? OSX has TONS of OS-derived graphical gunk. Gradients, drop shadows, and I hope you like chrome. A dock and a menu bar that you can't get rid of? Animations you can't turn off? Transparency? I don't want ANY of that crud, especially since its eye-candy that slows things down.
Read again. The previous poster said active-matrix, as in IPS panels, which are NOT directional and contrast does NOT vary. There are many, many types of panels to chose from when making an LCD, and they all have pros and cons with various effects. You're thinking of poorly made TN panels.
BUY A DIFFERENT MONITOR

IF THESE DON"T WORK:
Then you're not talking about glare.

Believe it or not this doesn't appear to be blackhat. It is SEO though, you're right about that.
I'd never even heard of numbered seats except in airplanes. The concept is foreign to me.
One example might change your mind: video game reviews. Professional video game reviews are pretty much worthless. Any gamer knows this.
I'll take that open-source bet. http://owncloud.org/ I'm already running copies.
But it has no internet? Really? Seriously? No thanks.
Hint: there is.

0_o 2100 laser printers? WHY?

No he is using RELATIVE measurements. This codec would be lower latency than other codecs when used on the internet.
Probably because of the part where OP said "I don't know enough about computers to frame the question intelligently."

You and me both

Why not both? You can easily buy two tablets for $300-400. One e-ink device @ $100 and one tablet @$200-300

That's not how one calculates screen widths. It's done diagonally.
I'm tired of asking for video transcripts on Slashdot. GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS.
Your point is correct, however they're at release 1 alpha. I'm pretty sure the logo is not the first thing someone makes.
