You really think no-one in his empire is technically savvy enough to know that? He's just trolling. There is no way his websites would survive if he opted out of Google's index so robot.txt is out. Faking page specifically for google is against their terms of services and they might stop indexing him. So that's also out. The only thing he's after is a piece of the ads money.

The news is not that there's a rift of about 6000km long. Other people had noticed that. The news is that some very specific stuff that mere human don't give a frack about may happen there. Of course since I'm not a geologist I have no clue why it matters; if it's news or only news for that particular location or quack science.

For the first time they demonstrate that activity on one rift segment can trigger a major episode of magma injection and associated deformation on a neighbouring segment.

To me a the server is the machine running the application that provide me with a service. In this case the service is running twm and mosaic and I use my "XClient" to access it a bit like I use my Mosaic to access your personal homepage on the world wide web. Why my X display is called a server while my html display is called a client is not clear to me.

Whether the direction of who open a socket first matters to define which machine is the actual server is up for debate.

Hey, I've been trying to send that DVD by email for the last three days but it doesn't work and by the way the email server is very slow. Oh that? That's my home wifi router so I can work from the rec room. Really?? This Azureus software prevents other people from working? I can't see why. Hey IT guy why do you pretend it's my statistical report that i made myself in access that slows the database? I'm not even using the database; only access. Why won't you let us send .exe file by email!!!! THIS IS A BUSINESS REQUIREMENT!!!! You're working AGAINST the business!!!

Granted some admins go overboard. But users are a pain in the ass.

Even in the eventuality of a US victory it would be impossible for them to get any kind of control over a territory that big even if they shipped every US citizen over there. Invading China would be a moot point.

Most likely they would end up nuking the crap out of each other and we would all get to play fallout for free. (well.. not all of us.)

An basic example, currently my average delay to get a simple test email account set-up hovers around 6 hours after approval with a 50/50 chance that I end up being given access to the Administrator account on the exchange server and a 80/20 chance that I need to physically coerce the sysadmin into doing his job by standing behind him and breathing down his neck while repeating very quickly the name of all the higher ups actually waiting for me to produce result worth 2k/day. And no "we're very busy" does not fly if I see a "Facebook" tab in your taskbar. seriously.

Now for the one in ten sysadmin I've met who's actually competent in his job there are nine who in my opinion should get a serious talking to instead of a cookie for the sysadminday.
