If you got together with a few of your neighbors and each of you bought different CDs and then lent them to each other,

It doesn't say anything about copying. You must have assumed that your friends were going to copy the CDs right after. That would be a violation in the US.

Just lending the CDs is fair use. . . like letting other people read your copy of the paper after you're done.

I suppose if you e-mailed the ripped tracks, with a promise to delete them after your friend heard them, it might be a greyer area of the law, but sharing them with the world is indeed a violation in the US.

What about that whole gas tank exploding when hit from the side issue?

There is no such issue. The issue is when the car (Crown Victoria or other Panther platform vehicles) get rear ended, or rear ended from an oblique angle or off center position, since the gas tank is in the rear, it can spill fuel and catch fire.

This really isn't an issue ethier, as it will withstand a 70 mph direct rear end impact from a 5000lb vehicle and not spill any fuel. Fires ocurr when the speed of the vehicle are over 80 MPH.

Let's see anyone in a Honda survive that impact.

Just for reference, cops here in Alberta, as in most of Canada, cannot stop a vehicle without probable cause. I've actually been pulled over for speeding, and cops have requested that I open my trunk. I politely refuse. Of course, they get a little testy and demand that I open the trunk.

This is where I stand on my rights. I confirm that they pulled me over for speeding, and politely ask - "Are you going to find more evidence of speeding in my trunk?". You have to know your rights - and stand up for them if you are to protect them.
