True what you say about the ugly.

The best looking wm I used in the Debian hamm/slink days was IceWM. It was actually pretty good, had a menu editor and decent control over the UI.

Still doesn't compare to modern Gnome though. Also I hear KDE is real nice. :D

I dropped my Facebook account last month.

    Facebook is teh suck.

Most of the people I "friended" were high school classmates who live in a different state and I haven't seen in decades.

Maybe I am sort of cold (my wife calls me "Dexter") but I really don't care to see a constant stream of medical drama and pictures of people's inbred rodent children.

    Yep.

And every version since 8.10 has problems with onboard Intel cards.

I try the new releases when they make it to .xx.1 and without fail there are video problems and also without fail some dork either denies that there is a problem, or tells me that the solution is to buy new hardware.

So I still run 8.04 on client boxes. Wouldn't dream of running Ubuntu on a server, that is what Debian is for.

    Very good point.

I traveled all over the States when I was younger, and noticed something.

The farther one gets from the coast or a large ocean-connected body of water (Great Lakes, etc.), the harder it becomes to find anything other than the "staples" of life. Fewer jobs, less opportunity, lower levels of education.

    BOOKS RULE. Tech pundits drool.

Amazon's used books section contains some incredible deals. You can often find reference works and fiction for $4.00 (1 penny for the book and $3.99 shipping).

You never have to justify your alignment with a paper book.

Haven't had to "justify my alignment" since about 1992, back in the AD&D days.

BTW whoever formatted all those Gutenberg etexts in that annoying tiny bold italic font... FUCK YOU.
