  1. I dunno... on US Prosecutors Have a Sealed Indictment On Assange, Say Leaked Files · · Score: 2

I would be more worried about being extradited by the British. Gary McKinnon & Richard O'Dwyer face possible jail time in US prisons and they are British subjects.

I hear that Bhumibol Adulyadej is an avid rusty trombone performer and eagerly felching sailors at any given opportunity. True story! ... this isn't my best trolling but it should be enough to make it advisable to stay away from Thailand. Hell, imagine a game where you play a Wermacht soldier in WW2. Sure would be interesting to see many of the battles from the other side. With a good unapologetic storyline it could be very thought-provoking and engaging. Sadly the topic is so toxic that nobody in the business dares to go against the inevitable media shitstorm that would follow. So they come up with the shitty, but safe storylines we see in BF3 & MW instead

  13. Gabe is right... on Valve's Gabe Newell On Piracy: It's Not a Pricing Problem · · Score: 2

Almost. It's nice to buy games on steam, but unless there is a sale you pay a premium for games. Take MW3 for example, it costs 59,99€ on Steam and I just ordered it for 43€ with shipping included from a brick and mortar store and that is ass backwards. One would assume that digital distribution would have the potential to be so much cheaper than a physical product, but in Gabe's magical lala land prices are higher and they hardly ever drop at all. While I'm already mentioning MW3, lets look at Black Ops, it still costs 59.99€ on Steam but at the same B&M store I can buy it for 27€ with shipping. There are few real perks for buying the games on Steam, unless you have lots of money to burn and you really want a 'genuine' TF2 item.

For a long time the only planets we found were 'hot Jupiters'. Jupiter sized planets very close to their star (inside Mercury's orbit).

Why weren't these planets stripped of their atmosphere?

Because those are young planetary systems? Just like ours was some 4.5 billion (give or take) years ago. Sounds like a reasonable guess.

The pirate copy will likely not require Internet at all, so only legitimate users will hurt from this.

It is quite possible that loot distribution is handled by Blizzard servers, rendering any off-line pirate copy useless anyway. This is of course baseless speculation, but I suspect this because they emphasise the player driven economy with in-game auctions/store and such. They can't just let people receive valuable loot without some control. Especially when there is real money involved.

  25. How will drop tables be affected? on Blizzard Reveals Diablo 3 (Real Money) Auction House · · Score: 1

Just think of it. If drops can be so rare and valuable that they may become monetized within the game, you can't leave drop rate to random chance. So I'm assuming that such drops will be controlled by a weekly budget. If not regulated in such a manner it's just a matter of time until the economy comes crashing down. This leaves me worried that the gaming experience will be suffering. Shit drops? Gee whiz, you'll have to wait till Wednesday night for reset! :P
