    Nothing detectable on a whole ocean (I think). Even if the rods pack a big punch, you have around 1,260 billion billion Litre(or Kg if we assume it's pure water, even though it isn't) of water in the oceans. So you need around 5 million billion billion Joule to raise the oceans temperature by 1 degree Celsius. That's several orders of magnitude of the reactors ability.

    I forgot about that! I was more focused on the computer following non-existence patterns , thinking it will ruin it chance of beating me. However going random will force the other player to go random as well(implicitly), Hence resulting in an overall tie.

    Yes! I just ran a random number generator in the background, and played depending the result. I beat the machine, because the machine is not random, it do what people do. So if I was playing against someone who is not random, i will beat him using this method because this person will see patterns where there is none.

    Regardless of what he said. It is reasonable to assume that not all open source software are cheaper to run on the long run than their propriety equivalent. Ok, it might be cheaper on the long run to have linux versus windows, but(and just as an example, I am not saying it is) it might be cheaper to run office then open office. Just because I am evil, that doesn't invalidate my point , nor does it invalidate the data I have.

    If you do something for me that is equivalent of 400 $ and I pay you 1000$ that's unfair, if I pay you 100$ it's unfair. The point is, as much as we dislike our corporate overlords, fairness should be in order. So what I am trying to say, that system is not fair, as in the end you don't earn what you should be earning. Whether you got paid more or less.

    I have some questions here, and Correct me if I am wrong. But isn't the Xbox hacks so far are hardware ? Isn't this easier to detect than the compromised key of PS3 ? I mean you are not changing anything with the console itself, you just know the specific key that allows you to run your homebrew/pirated code. I can think of some ways to detect pirated games, but i think it would be far fetched. And do they have any legal stand that forbids you from running homebrew ?

    You gave the answer yourself, It's not democratic because the opinion of others is not important when weighting the evidence. The majority of people working in particle physics rejects the idea of Top condensate as an explanation for the mass generation in the standard model. However in the events of the LHC finding evidence (let's say above 5 sigma) that it is indeed the most plausible scenario, your so called consensus will come after the evidence. Same with evolution, you can agree with it all your want, you can disagree with it all you want, that still doesn't change the validity of the said theory. This so called consensus is just a way of acknowledging the proof. If all scientist on earth agreed the ether theory is correct that won't make it so, and if everyone said gravity doesn't exist, it won't make it so either.

    Peer review is not an indication of democracy. It's an indication that your work was found to be fault free by people of similar qualification. Peer reviewers don't vote, they don't implicated personal agenda on how they review science. All they do is check for inconsistencies, and flaws. (I am talking in the broader sense)

    I don't understand this. If the researchers did a proper experiment, respected the rules, followed proper procedures, and did a proper analysis of the data they collected, in a scientific way. Why is it a problem to publish ? So now we should bar publication that don't agree with our general conception ? If it was done considering the specific guidelines set by the scientific community of how to do things, screw them. Science is not a democratic process, nor it should be politically correct. Science is science.

    That is something I am thinking about. I mean let's face it. The people who want to take wikileaks down are by no means idiots. Even if every once and a while they resorted to something that looks idiotic. So this raise the question, why the hell he is being targeted like that ? He can just be replaced in a heart beat if he is gone!
