The US governments "checks and balances" tend to sacrifice legislative efficiency and speed for more limits on what one branch can accomplish while prolonging the process artificially so there are no hasty decisions.

FCC, FAA still don't want cell phones on planes because...They can charge people $9 CAD a minute (thats like $20 USD or something) to use their in-flight phones.
Here in Vancouver, BC (Canada) we were forced to take a course called personal planning in grade 10. This happened 3 years ago, and as it was the first year, there were some serious issues with the program. Teachers had no clue what the fuck was going on, so we mostly watched movies (goldfinger to teach us about the federal reserve or some shit?) Because the teachers were not sure of the requirements, most people were given A's (I missed half the semester and got 95%). After wasting 1/8 of my teenage years they cancelled it, after all that suffering, pointless filler assignments and unrelated movies. Then again, it was easy to get baked before class and the teacher wouldn't notice, she assumed that we were all retarded (I live in a poor area....i mean socio-economically disadvantaged district....i think.)

Conversely, people are always saying that playing FPS=more violent people in real life. I understand that this is talking about people being less stressful, but still. Maybe its just too early for me to think.
As a non-white (im Indian) I am much more cautious around white people. I have been beat up because of the color of my skin, even though I am not very threatening. Last night a white friend of mine had two brown guys throw beer bottles at his truck, and try to box him in the dead end street (where him and his GF were.) Instead of saying, I am scared of black people, say "I am scared of threatening people." Or don't because it's logical.
I have a 20 gig WD hard drive, keeps failing CRC's which is a total pain in the ass when your 5 gb torrents don't work, but this drive has seen some serious abuse. Dropping it, stepping on it, having the computer kicked over many times (while the drive is only secured by the wiring. I think it is mostly affected by how well you take care of your drives, if you leave it in your computer, provide adequate room for airflow to prevent overheating, and stop it from falling over, then hard drives last many years.

So what...if people can do your job for less, then why should employers be racist and only hire white people who get paid alot more for the same amount of work. If you want to make lots of money, get an education, and a job where the demand is high, and supply is low. If you want to work at minimum wage, there are plenty of jobs out there. If you don't make enough money, spend less money. Simple enough, us immigrants have been doing it for a long time (I'm from India though, not mexican.) If you want to work in call center for a $1 an hour, go to India. People live way beyond their means on inflated salaries, and complain when there is some competition introduced to the job market, by people who are willing to work harder for less money. If capitalism is so great, then what's the problem?

a "friend of a friend of mine" has an uncle who is a vice principle at an elemntary school, and the new computers he ordered come with vista, but instead of wasting his allotted school funds on buying XP (because some shit wasnt compatible or something i dunno) he just used a TPB copy of XP w/sp2 slipstreamed he said. I was suprised but apathetic, because M$ has enough moolah and they fucked up on vista....maybe if they had an XP downgrade available.
Having worked as a telemarketer for a few weeks, the most effective way to get them to not call is to say:
a) No English.
b) I'm not over 18...and no nobody else in the house is either.
speaking of VPN's, if i have a vpn connected so i can access online journals with my university.....(i dont really get it, im an arts student not comp sci lol) does all my traffic go through there?
