To add to your point, none of my friends who have watched over my shoulder as I've done something on my Powerbook have walked away without commenting that they wanted a Mac.
"Could the surge in the second quarter have been caused by people who already own Macs upgrading or buying a Mac Mini as second system? Or even Windows users buying a Mini as a secondary machine?"
Well you have to remember that there are more Windows users who also have Macs than there are Mac users who also have Windows machines.
I'm stuck with Verizon, who doesn't offer a reasonable bluetooth phone. Is there a good, solid, bluetooth/CDMA/OSX-friendly phone I could get on eBay or something?
I don't need a PDA. Just a phone that can talk to my powerbook and share contacts.
Asked which idea came first... Anakin or Luke, Lucas explained the genesis of the series, "There was originally to be one film, I wanted it to be Episode IV of a serial (maybe out of 12 or something) that you would never see the first or last episodes of. That's what happened in the '30s, you had trailers, and a short cartoon, and then a cliffhanger. That serial-style is what Star Wars is based on."
"I started with Anakin Starkiller and his two kids, then I got to a draft that's kind of what we know now, but it was 200 pages. Then that became three films. I never thought I'd go back and do the original stories, regardless of what the press says or what's out there. But then the necessary film technology came along and I came to grips with being known forever as George 'Star Wars' Lucas."
The iPod Photo and iPod mini both satisfy 2 - 5, which you must admit is closer to your dream than your current player. 1, "cheap", is a matter of perspective. There's plenty of people with sigs that will tell you how to get them for free, though.
You must not have been hugged enough as a child. You poor thing.
Some folks like things that you don't. People are different, and since widescreen movies and $2 bills (normally) don't hurt anyone, I don't see a problem with anyone not wanting to settle for anything less than what they enjoy.
In short, it may be annoying to you, but life is too short for people to give up things they like just to make you happy.
If I were in their shoes and if I were the kind of person to do so, my tactic would be to send a message to Google by rallying the blogosphere behind me to Google-bomb those keywords. Though if this becomes big news, the articles themselves will have taken care of that.
I should mention that I've had problems with the Adsense group before, and would like to see terrible things happen to them.
What effort to hide it? I went to apple.com/quicktime and clicked the "standalone installer" link in the upper right corner. It was directly under the download link for the bundled version.
You call that a low user ID?
I hate to say I told you so, but...
"One problem with the full-motion ads is that gamers can easily avoid watching them."
How sad is it that this is considered a problem?
Well at least I helped someone.
I have a Linux box and a Windows box here at work. Synergy is a godsend.
The point is that even if Macs hit 100% market share, the number of viruses for the platform would still be considerably lower.
OS X isn't perfect. Nothing is. But it's a hell of a lot closer than Windows.
To add to your point, none of my friends who have watched over my shoulder as I've done something on my Powerbook have walked away without commenting that they wanted a Mac.
I don't have the link, but that myth was shot down recently.
The quick way to prove it is to point out that Apple doesn't have 0% market share, but they do have 0% of the viruses.
If you have two screens, I very, very highly recommend Synergy instead of a KVM switch.

Haha!
"eColin"
I'm sure I'll be modded down for this, but the first thing that came to mind was someone shoving raw chicken up their ass.
I defend Windows as much as possible, as someone who used XP until about 6 months ago without ever having it crash.
I'd say it's changed quite a bit.
Either you haven't used a Mac recently or you have a very strange idea of what "usability" means.
Or maybe it has more to do with ignorant counter-culture elitism, which is pretty funny, if you think about it.

As market share increases, prices are likely to go down. Hopefully they will, and #2 won't be a problem.
Everyone wins.
I'm guessing you aren't aware of who makes Apple's processors.
From StarWars.com (emphasis mine):

What book would that be?
Original 9 books? There have been books, yes, but all either based on or an extension of the movies, not the other way around.
There is no 7-9.
The Zahn books aren't 7-9. They're books. That's all. Just like the dozens of other Expanded Universe books.
And they weren't even very good books.

I agree with you completely, but don't you think the "I don't moderate" in your sig should preclude you from bitching about how others moderate?
Two big "if"s and a clear statement that I'm admittedly biased against Adsense. What's not to get? What I'm trying to accomplish should be obvious...
I want to convince people to kick puppies and yell at babies.
Duh.
