I'm pretty sure that it's not just you who feels this way about Windows 7, but that's mainly because this site is full of people who hate Microsoft for the sake of hating Microsoft. Amongst the general population Windows 7 is gonna own. Personal opinion, to be sure, but historically I'm pretty good at judging hype on its own merits.
I hear them saying that, but I also notice that generally they are so high all the time that they just don't realize it anymore. There is a serious difference between the two states.
What it comes down to is that you can't ask a ruler to measure itself.
OMG that means... nothing. Why are you getting so worked up about this? It's just another in a series of interactive(ish) movies that a lot of people like and even more don't care about in the least.
Only if you consider "unbelievably evil" to be synonymous with "mildly inconvenient."
It helps to get the information straight, as well. Believing the article is the first step towards stupidity, since almost the entire thing is factually incorrect.
I dunno that Slashdot users are that much of a concern for Apple. People around here like their computers cheap with interfaces from the 70s. That's not exactly Apple's target market.
45 years old, works today only in a quaint "ooh, look at that" manner, and probably cost more than it now does to put gigabit ethernet in 1000 modern computers. There is no value to making technology that lasts so long beyond the curiosity of it.
This is 2MB on disk that we're talking about here. That's the second most useless metric for a library I can imagine. Maybe I should choose my libraries based on how many lines of source went into them?
But don't let facts get in the way of your attitude.
Thanks for the entertainment. I don't know or care about your life in the slightest, but it's always funny to watch people who don't know each other in the least sling personal insults back and forth while trying to prove how little the other person is bothering them.
In case you were wondering, you both come off looking like douchebags. That's the fun of it!
You wanna know the best part about you believing competitiveness is a weakness? Your position doesn't even have to be considered because you've taken yourself out of the game. You lose by forfeit.
Pretty decent as a object lesson in the folly of idealism.
It's because it's worth the effort skipping over bad trolls to find the opinions that Slashdot groupthink has decided must be hidden.
Although truthfully, it's not as much of a problem as it used to be. It seems that the user base has finally reached the critical mass for diversity of opinion to take hold.
I'm sure the managing editor of Tom's Hardware shares your Slashdottian belief that he should be providing his services to you for free. Perhaps you and the rest of the entitled people could form a rota to feed and house him (and his family if applicable.)
First the power users thought I should subsidize them, and I said "Fuck you!" because I don't see why I should do that. Then the power users tried to sway me with emotional pleas and slippery slope arguments, and I again said "Fuck you!" because it seemed like the right response.
You've made a common mistake amongst Apple lovers - you assume the style of window management you've grown used to is inherently superior. It is not. I'm sorry if this shatters some very important part of your being, as I know that some Apple lovers truly do fall apart when confronted with the reality that their chosen system is not intrinsically better than anything else just because they've learned it.
And if you do tell your doctor some precise (and mistaken) injury, will he then sigh, roll his eyes, and refuse to help you because you don't have his esoteric knowledge?
That's true, but not being favorably disposed to open source means that you eat children and rape small puppies.

The anti-Microsoft people would complain if Windows offered blowjobs with blue screens.

Heaven forbid that gameplay makes a game popular.

That's like telling /. to put down the Hustler and masturbate to Vogue.

2 megabytes of overhead? It ain't 1988 anymore, 2MB barely even registers these days.
I get the whole Slashdot obsession with bloat, but there's a limit.
Never! He is evil - for extremely watered down definitions of evil.
I'm a tag

It's not a problem for the general Slashdot population, just the vocal "everything should be free" contingent. Don't let a loudmouth get you down.
I see nothing wrong with killing rats. I also see nothing wrong with holding this view.

What's "manly" about fantasizing about ridiculously strong women? I'm not sure I ever understood this, but I'm 100% definite that I'm all that is man.

It's overpriced because we deserve to be entertained for free. Keep up!
